Silver angel and it's many variants, golden angel, super angel and super shinobi, all works by having other units merged with the unit which has the mentioned skill. Left alone, it does nothing. Silver angel gives the unit a can of toys for every five commanders merged with them. Golden angel does the same, but only need one commander for every can of toys. Yeah, a can of toys, not food. Silver angel's explaination is a bit confusing. Super angel and super shinobi are the same skill, giving Rance SAT bonus for every merge. It reduces by 1 each time, from 4, down to 1 and stays there. Escalayer, NG+ special character has super angel.
A can of toys give Rance the event bonus 5 times, and it can be abused to either make Rance a beast of a unit, or raise his lv by a total of 10 each time, your choice.
And I know you don't ask this, here's some more info.
Leazas's generals can be captured if you defeat Leazas the hard way and they join other houses. But their chances are so low that so far, I've only seen Rick twice, Barres once and Ex once, each on separate plays. It's fine if you don't stop their 4 times blitz, they will still appear on the enemy's roster with a low chance.
It's worth to invade Zeth even if it's not completed yet. Parsley and Kabachahn can carry you easily if you power them enough. Stack more troops on them and raise their stats, and they'll vaporize everything in one turn.
Dunno if this got answered or not, but to recruit Shinoda, you need Fiend Lei. Yes, Fiend Lei, for weird reasons. Shinoda is more or less a great late game tactician but he allows you to directly see the enemy's roster. Freely, without costing an action fan.
Uruncel Blade has some interesting application with archfiend slash skill. When used and you manage to kill the enemy with the first strike, the second strike still happens and though there's no enemy, it still gives you one action flag back. This can stack beyond 6 despite only showing 6.
