If you're looking for a sex filled 3D horror game, don't even bother, 'cause there's none. But if you're looking for a good horror game... you're shit outta luck too.
The story is this: You, a vague 30 something guy, wakes up on an abandoned ship that you don't know of. You wanted to get out of here, but you're asked by the game to collect 20 "sailor's note" for no reason whatsoever. All of which contain... generic poorly written apocalyptic log of a crew going crazy from Siren's singing (who would've guessed) and gradually getting wiped out. Clearly inspired by the audio logs in BATIM, and just as disconnected from each as well! By this point, by combining the adjective and MC's snail pace walk speed makes you realize this is gonna be a poor man's Slenderman/Baldi/Saiko No Sutoka (you get me).
While you get chased by a Dark Siren (roll credits) who dresses in skimpy clothing and don't even look scary at all as a "horror game antagonist". If you think getting caught by her or sneak up on her from behind can net you some lewd sex judging by her design, HA, don't even bother. The "mature content description" on the game's Steam page sums it all up:
Dark Siren contains sexual content that:
- As the game progresses, the exposure of Dark Siren's outfit increases.
- When you walk around the map of Dark Siren wearing a high-exposure outfit, you get a sexy atmosphere with red lights.
-When captured by the Dark Siren, a cutscene emphasizing a part of the body is played. (3 types in total)
-Dark Siren's exposure is high in the game's ending cutscene.
- Upon clearing the game, you can wear a swimsuit skin with high exposure to Dark Siren. (Regular swimsuit / bikini swimsuit / monokini swimsuit)
- Sex is not included.
This isn't a porn game.
Despite advertising itself as a bland, run-of-the-mill horror game with the antagonist's sex appeal as a selling point, even literally using the words "
s e x u a l content", they went for the Haydee route and did not bother to even make any adult content to satisfy the audience who are intrigued by, y'know, said sex appeal
advertised on their damn thumbnail.
Look, I don't hate games that try to be their own thing without using vagina and penises to gain a shortcut for that, but it doesn't even have "being an
actual game" as an excuse to back itself up, and just failed in that aspect like how
Mirror 2 did (albeit without a previous fame or fanbase to disappoint of).
The gameplay is as cheap as its price of 3 dollars, boring as fuck, despite one playthrough being 10 to 20 minutes at most, the speed manage to make me feel like I have walked for an hour already. But I do have to give credit for the use of 3D sandbox survival horror gameplay, it does build atmophere (if it's done better than "red light zone") and a survival horror adult game is a fairly new idea.
The execution however, is quite questionable, as the the sole enemy is so non-threatening, you can just stroll around like you're on a honeymoon cruise trip and watch your "wife" all day long by the sidelines, really satisfy those who only need some softcore eye candy to post onto Youtube for clicks.
For me though? It feels like literally doing shopping chore in a dimlight shopping mall, only occasionally looking at skimpy chicks and imagine what it feels like to bang them... but it's only in your dreams.
"Getting caught is more fun than actually playing" indeed, so much so that most of the time you have to intentional to get caught to see the "captured" scenes that the devs feel like point out in their feature list. Like seriously, I went through the whole game on Hard Mode, and most of the time I just stay
right behind her damn back.
What's the point of it being a horror game if I can't be scared?
What's the point of using her sex appeal as a selling point if the "fan service" they're giving are just so lackluster? Like all the other comments in the thread said, it's a pointless cock tease.
Not even the unlockables that intriguing enough for me to play this for a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th time.
I only refrained from giving this an 1 star due to the possiblity of the devs giving us what we want, despite how unlikely it is, and the fact that the Siren's model is
seriously very good looking for something that's 3 dollars and from what's likely a beginner-dev team growing their roots in the massive market of porn games.
But as it's now?
IT'S JUST BAD.
