In our company, we have an AI department and vram is a must have. Right now they ordered 10x 2080ti for our new server so that is 110gb ram, cut 18% and that is almost 20 GB of ram wasted on nothing. They might use Linux on it after all.

So I think this problem is a way bigger than making "porn games" and playing video games, on some point MS should fix it else they will lose a lot of companies that need this 18%.

Not sure if this card would be more appropriate to your needs or not, but you mentioned AI...

Among other things, it is a 16GB card, and occupies a single slot.

Who knows how soon these will hit the market. Well, Nvidia probably knows, but they aren't sayin'...

They already made the order for the 2080ti. Maybe next time they will buy Tesla, we have 2x Tesla P100 in our current server but it was focused mostly on CPU power (it is used for OCR processing).

I was mainly sharing for future reference, for the next time y'all are looking at grabbing more GPUs. Not sure if the Tesla t4 would be suitable for your company's future needs, but it's good to be aware of what's out there, and what will be out there in the near future.

so, as to be expected, the 1060 is faster than the 1050TI

so.... as you can see, the 1050TI is capable of Iray rendering some basic scenes in DAZ.
what you can also see is that the render time pretty much gets halved when you add a 2nd card (1080TI vs. 2x1080TI)

you can get two 1050TI for the price of one 1060 6G (at least around where I live)
now if you take the 40min time of a single 1050TI and throw in a second one you will end up with 20min which beats the 26min of a single 1060 6G
BUT
keep in mind that the 1060 6G has more VRAM than the 1050TI (6GB vs 4GB) which will come in handy if you want to render more advanced scenes with more than 2 or 3 characters or a bigger environments....
also: not every asset in DAZ is equal so you might get some characters that requiere more VRAM than others

Is it possible to test the same scene with RTX 2070, 2080, 2080 Ti cards?
