Hello,

as the headline says, what is best to use for Daz? I have a new PC, but now that I think about it, I am not happy with my external HD for my library.

I dunno how long do you keep your librariea. Do they have frequent updates? it wouldn't be a good idea to write/erase data too much on ssd as it could wear out earlier than its max life span.

Just a precaution

SSD without doubt. That loadings from standart HDD is work killing.

As @Fliptoynk said, wouldn't it wear out while using Daz or is it only when you really remove from your library?

I have a back-up of all asset zips on external but always switch it to at least HDD for integration. It's a bitch sizewise though. Easily biggest grouping of files on both of my internal hard drives.

I'm not thinking about that I have my library on 2 computers so if it dies on one I will tranfer it from second. But I didn't think it will ruin SSD somehow.

Buy with the latest chip like samsung evo 860. They last longer. Multiple times longer if I remember correctly.

I went for a Samsung evo 860 today. 1TB. Should hopefully work just fine :)

Having your library on an SSD should be fine, most of the time you are reading from it, which as far as i know, does not have effect on the SSD, only write/erase damage the transistors.
Bigger problem for people is the price since good quality 1TB and higher SSDs are pretty expensive.

Searching in google for information about the difference in loading scenes when using an HDD or SSD I found this post...

I have already published a post about this in the developer section, but since the topic is discussed, I would like to say that after changing my 3TB HDD for an ultra-fast M.2 Gen3 SSD, I haven't noticed any difference when loading scenes in DAZ :cry:

However, at least the navigation when searching for assets within the program has improved considerably :ROFLMAO:

I have my DAZ library on a 2TB HDD and other pc on HDD Duplicator also on 2TB HDD.. loading time is fast enough. Ive noticed opening/saving a file for instance slows down if you use Fit Control in the file. There are other assets that do the same. Test it yourself.

I have tried the SSD route and honestly saw hardly any speed difference between HDD/SSD loading. Of course test this yourself and see but honestly id rather buy two 1TB HDD, one for your library files and other backing them, rather than putting it on a SSD for loading speed...

Where it does slow down is accessing/loading assets in DAZ first time after startup is slow. Once loaded in cache its fast until next pc restart etc...
