You don't have to imagine the worst, ghosting is pretty common just because you lost motivation to do something. Decency would be to inform your supporters when you take money, but it is what it is

Normally I do figure that the dev decides to blow off the game due to greed and a lack of ethics. That is based on 100s of abandoned games on here. However, we know the update was very close to completion so it makes more sense to release the update and then ghost everyone in order to string out monetization for a much longer period. Devs who are doing that also tend to post on Patreon every few months to make it seem like they are doing something. I know devs who keep the con going for years on end with that method.
But this game didn't have much support anyway. So ripping off supporters doesn't seem to be the prime factor in the disappearance.

Maybe he was finding it hard to complete it (writer's block, animations being hard to do, etc) and said fuck it.
End of the day no one know why he abandoned the game, pointless to speculate unless you knew the dev personally.
Don't think anyone ever accused the dev of trying to con or milk subs, this would be a disastrous way to do it, as you point out.
Not having the decency to explain things doesn't mean he's accusing him of conning/milking people.
Yes, except in that discord post he said that all renders were finished and he just had some dialogue and sound effects to complete. And considering the writing in this game, I don't think writer's block was an issue for Hot Tomato, quite the opposite actually.
We also know that this wasn't bullshit and that the update was nearly done based on what Ruykiru eventually released.
Hot Tomato posted 28 times on Subscribestar between July and September 2024, representing very heavy engagement with subscribers and including a bunch of teaser posts for the update in the final week of September. This doesn't support the idea he was contemplating abandonment.
His final Subscribestar post was Sep 25 and his final discord message was the same day.
I think it is perfectly valid to speculate on the abandonment of this game when there are people such as yourself who directly accuse the dev of lacking "decency". Given the available evidence, this is one of the few times where I'm convinced that negative life events are a very real possibility.

Yes, you basically summarised in the last two messages why I think the worst.
I will tell you, however, that the dev wasn't earning much from this so he told me he had to work a lot IRL. Maybe he simply decided to go back to doing what he always did to support him and the parents. Idk. I can't really blame him with the way most loud players treated him in the forums.

One thing is certain: games have their pros and cons, but if every DV started out with something they had in mind and then decided to change it after the criticism, no one would finish any game.... You should have continued with your ntr tag and continued with what you had in mind. I guarantee you would have gotten more support from the few than from the many who hate it.

I'm not sure if he will want to do it. Many people on this site didn't like it when Ruykiru updated the game, according to the dev. They might have wanted darker scenes and NTR. With so much criticism for the dev and the helpers, I'm not sure what the future holds for this game. It's disgusting that they ask for unavoidable NTR, I don't care what Cucks plays but asking for this game to continue is too much. Finally try the last shoot of the game, thank you ruykiru for bringing the last content to us, though the main dish for mother-son and brother-sister may never be out...

Some people are acting as if the game is dead because they didn't feature their choices and was punished for it. Even when it did the game seemed to survive just fine, the game is just dead because the original dev disappeared and ghosted everyone, that's it. Dunno what you feel so vindicated about lol
Are the assets used here available anywhere? Have no experience but id like to take a crack at continuing the story so it at least has a satisfying ending.
Message Ruykiru, he has a discord channel where you can ask him about the models and maybe colab with him or ask his permission to continue the game.

Ruykiru, yes ... you should finish it. Your writing on SS is quite good as well, so I think you'd be able to do this thing justice. It certainly deserves an ending.
