Decent games drought?

Is it just me, or has the hentai game industry really fallen off lately? I remember back a few years ago you could find some decent games every few weeks or so, game updates left and right and an overall decent quality.

What happened? Right now games take MONTHS to get any meaningful updates, 90% of the games that come out are complete garbage filled with static images either done badly or AI generated, shitty gameplay and abandoned tags. I've been following many games that I'd like to see completed yet updates take a very long time, most good developers simply just quit before even finishing their product.

I check in almost daily for some good quality games, or hell even average ones but most of the releases are complete garbage.

So I guess this is both a discussion on this topic, but also a question for you all:

What was the last good game that released for you? And by good I mean that has decent animated artworks, MAYBE voice acting, and a non-shitty gameplay (fuck off Visual Novels)

Several reasons. Most likely it's just that you personally aren't seeing things you personally want to see. I've seen several very popular, very followed games have releases over the last couple weeks. As for the time between releases that's down to complexity and render time variations, dev free time in some cases and size of dev teams in others. This particular post gets posted several times a year and has been repeated ad nauseum for years.

Everyone's 10% is different, put them all together and you get around 95% good games

I don't expect that much, I just want it animated and with a decent gameplay but having both seems to be rare nowadays.

Not really, and I'll make an example of this. I'll use the developer called MoeyMoey as an example (they made Breed Lab). The first demo came out somewhere around two years ago I believe? The game used to have an update either monthly or every two months, and slowed down a bit before release (understandably).
They're now creating another game called Breeders, which has pretty much the same graphics and engine, but it's been around 3/4 months since the last update (which was pretty much version 0.1)

Go to game threads from 2017 you'll see people complaining about update times, jump ahead to 2025 and you have people complaining about update times. You'll also find people complaining about lack on content in updates, lack of a particular character not getting updates, dev's working on more than one project and slowing updates, dev's slowing updates to milk etc. etc. etc.

As I said, always have....

Having just tried Love and Sex Second Base, I can assure you it is not a VN. That game is one of the grindiest I have tried on here next to maybe Man of the House. And I was playing with god mode turned on.

Fitting those requirements (which are a lot to ask for, even requiring animations or decent gameplay filters out the vast majority of games), it's still this from 2020. Leave out one of the reqs, this game is decent if you're into the themes and forgiving of the early game. Looking at game mods, I recommend

, but it's a process to get it running and if you stick strictly to the mod's content, it's basically a VN with walking. Still easily one of the best animated porn experiences I've played the last few years.

I feel oppositely, there's an unusual amount of games coming out recently or soon-ish that I'm interested in. The last game for me was Half-Demon Shinobi, it's animated, voice acting, with enjoyable Slay the Spire inspired gameplay. It's actually the only StS-like game that I've played through - most of them aren't quite as good, so I think "why am I not just playing the actual StS" and stop, but in this case the answer is "because StS doesn't have bouncing battle butts or H-scenes".

Then there's some soon-upcoming games: The Shimmering Horizon and the Cursed Blacksmith, which is a mystery dungeon game; Fallen Priestess which I'm tentatively curious about; NTR Idol; and Jerez's Arena III which I'm looking forward to a lot.

So ye I've actually got an unusual amount of stuff I'm interested in coming out around now, but they're all from eastern studios.

There's a few possible reasons for this:

AKA you are just jaded/it's all in your head/etc. An unproductive line of thinking that gets regurgitated every time this thread gets posted. Nothing much to say here.

2. F95 backlog
Consistent daily posting of games only started a few years ago. The first game on F95 was 9 years ago, but 2/3rds of total games have been posted in the past 3 years. Many games being posted from a few years ago would have been old games that had yet to be added to the catalog.

3. Patreon rebranding
A few years ago Patreon was considered crowdfunding similar Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Patreon has been making a conscious effort to change that over the years to become more of a subscription feed service. It used to be that Patrons paid donations for porn game developers to make games, but now they are paying them for the service of talking about making games. This has caused irreversible damage.
