Ren'Py - Deep Vault 69 [v0.5.16] [bohohon]

Quite good. Good art and cute characters. Minigames are quick and don't take too much time. Minimal grind. Map navigation is a little laggy. Once a few minor bugs and language/translation issues are dealt with this will be easy 5/5.

The game has some interesting systems it reminds me of the fallout shelter for mobile. It's still quite buggy sometimes and there are places with no english translation, but it has good art and good gameplay. I will keep looking for updates on this one, pretty good.

PROS
+ Art style, and character models looks decent, and despite how messy, and bad most of them are, there are some pretty good looking sex scene animations exist as well, even tho they are rare, and not has great variety.

CONS
- The main story is big hot mess, there are lots of inconsistent, nonsense, and problematic stuff going on, and it's quite poorly-written.
- Girls/women paths/stories are not that great either, most girls have unlikeable characters, and their content is either annoying or not even worth mentioning because how short they are, like minutes long, and some girls like Jessica, Mary Go, or Eva Carnal still has almost no content at all. There are very rare couple girls/women in the game with some real story on their path, and they are either bad, or just meh. Not to forget lots of girls/women quests/content/path are tied to other ones, and that's terrible design choice, it forces you to play other girls/women content, and takes almost all freedom sandbox has from the players hands.
- Some stuff like mutation stat, etc, never explained even after 3 years of development.
- Combat design is bad, especially visually since there is nothing representing what kind of attack you are or your enemy doing it, whatever you use it always just moves your character's or enemies vector slightly to the right or left to show you or your enemy made an attack, which is terrible. And at some parts characters doesn't look like their original design at all in combat screen, and they can even happen at random stages of the game, in one scene you see your character or any other one with corrected, and similar model to their original model in combat mode, then seconds later in another combat you see character models looking nothing like their original model at all.
- You are forced to use H only for hiding the HUD/text, meanwhile in 99% of Renpy games both H, and middle mouse button works.
- Save menu design is bad, it's not centered properly, and has only 4 slots instead of 6 slot we have normally.
- We have small vector pictures of characters talking attached to textbox, and it's really unnecessary, it has no job aside from taking space at screen, and distracting you.
- Leaving/entering a room/place takes little bit time, which is bit confusing/nonsense since considering the size of the game, design, etc, it should happen instant, but weirdly it doesn't, and almost feels like small loading happening, it's especially annoying when you need to back and fort between rooms for quests, etc.
- The game lacks pictures to show what's happening on the screen, like meanwhile characters talking you only see vectors of the characters standing around, and things happening mostly shown with text, for example text says ''The women sighed heavily, and ran her hand through her hair, smothing it down.'' meanwhile on the screen you seeing nothing.
- The world design is not well-made, map doesn't have zoom out option, and it's kind of painful to move around with map is zooming in position. And for wenting a place in map you first need to mark a location, say yes to question asked to you if you are sure, then click again to travel that place, again answer the question asked yes, and finally you are there, the whole thing is really unnecessary, and just wastes your time for no reason.
- There is no scene gallery in the game, the ''gallery'' we have only shows some pictures, and not the whole scene, or the animations, etc, in fact some of girls/women don't even have place in there despite having scenes like Olivia or Britney.
- Like the whole game sex scenes are quite messy as well. Some of them has black or grey background for no reason despite their gallery picture versions having some kind of background, that background doesn't look good either, but still something, then some are even has bugs like this some are simply have couple pictures, and no animations, etc, like Wiomia's whole path, or some threesomes (for example MC x Betty x Britney), or Luna's scenes, which is very disappointing.
- There is no gear progress exist, neither your armors, or weapons are visible in game, you always look same despite the gear you use.
- There are lots of errors and bugs, for example the game is based on russian language, and in some scenes there are bugs like this your menu language turning into russian or dialogues. Or getting errors while on world map, etc. Or some scenes being not colored, and looking plain white & black before the coloring happens.
- For no reason sometimes music just gets load out of nowhere.
- Some scenes or even locations are still under development.
- There no option to skip the time, and you are forced to go to your home, and skip time with your bed instead.

VERDICT
This game is big hot mess with kind of good art, sadly aside from the art it has no charm or good point at all, so unless you are big fan of Fallout series, and the art then I will suggest staying away from it.

Great game, fun story, amazing scenes, the chracters are sexy as hell, the art style is unique. Keep up the good work! The Only downside is the saving thing. It's very annoying to play furthur versions.

I've been following this game since its release and with each update I've enjoyed it more and more. However, due to certain directions that this game has taken, I can't enjoy it anymore. I'll make a few points.
1- The art is very pretty
2- The gameplay still has a lot of room for improvement and there's still no fun combat mechanics
3- At the beginning of development, it seemed like certain fetishes would be included, but they're no longer included, such as incest.

What killed this game for me was the fact that it no longer had incest and the possibility of having monster girls.

I'd say it's a pretty good game all in all.
The progression between characters is rather too fast though, like I understand it's porn, but if you're gonna give them personalities you should make the interactions and choices mean something.

In terms of writing, Mary is likely the most fleshed out character and you can more-or-less have sex with her immediately. The girls' designs are nice, but sort of dragged down with relatively one-dimensional writing. Nikki is a naive ditz, Susie is a shy strong girl, Jessica is your bitch sister, and Linda's a horny milf. There's a bit more, but that's what they ultimately run down to being.

Combat isn't horrible, but damage values are too sporadic for weapons. Once you get regenerative metal armor and any powerful weapon, it becomes "how fast can you click to move on." I wish the sprites had different models for certain attacks, but I can see why they wouldn't include it if they're focused on the main appeal of porn.

While much of the lewd content is visually pleasing, it is somewhat disappointing that much of it is still CG's.

The game is pretty… weak.

The most positive aspect is the visuals. The artwork looks vibrant, and each character has a unique and appealing design. There are animations, sometimes. But the developers couldn’t decide whether they wanted frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation or something resembling Live2D. The latter seems to have won out.

The gameplay just exists. It’s not engaging. Looting isn’t fun, crafting isn’t fun, combat isn’t fun, traveling isn’t fun. Everything is implemented at a surface level, with no depth whatsoever. Personally, I find the massive gap between minimum and maximum damage annoying, it’s too random. Some weapon types and modifiers help make damage more consistent, but that’s about it.

The worst part of this game is definitely the characters and writing. They’re so flat, so… unremarkable. The devs tried to give them distinct personalities, but relationship development follows a pattern from "fuck off/oh, hi" straight to "I’m a slave to your dick." And this happens almost instantly. By the middle of a relationship arc, none of the girls feel any different from each other.

The writing itself is overloaded with jokes and references to Russian culture. Not all of them even elicit a smile, so the sheer quantity ends up hurting the game. Aside from that, you can tell the writer tried to be literary, but the result feels bland.

The descriptions of sex scenes are garbage. It reads like someone with zero sexual experience desperately trying to do dirty talk, and it completely kills the mood.

Overall, the game has a decent amount of content, but the quality of that content is just off-putting.

Not your everyday VN.

The story is basically a fallout parody, as someone who loves the fallout series I liked it. Some parts were more cringy than funny.

gearing is meaningful but kinda slow.

Really good 2d art! This boosted the game a lot in my eyes, characters are pretty hot, scenes are decent. Animations are few.

Plenty of porn in this one, the fetishes are optional.


Overall a good game, I'll update the review when I finish it, but I doubt it will lose a star.

Whoa, that was one hell of an adventure. Must say, the whole story is pretty decent, it is well-paced and not lagging. Sexual content is the main jewel here - even 2d pics were smoking hot.
But as for the gameplay I wouldn't be so optimistic - it still needs polishing in terms of loot management (at the end you'll be overwhelmed by the trash in your stash) and item overall properties :
- can't use laser pistols (for a reasons unknown);
- 10-mm pistol is inferior to Bloodbath revolver because of Multishot ability, adding special weapon traits would make battles divergent;
- only Vault jumpsuit is available without any alternatives - would be nice to have advanced Vault gear or raiders armour;
- food healing is painfully low, especially when fighting two enemies;

Still, great game, would definitely recommend for playing!

Poor UI. For example: you find a new weapon but u have no idea whats it damage, because developer did not see fit to display the weapon stats
Transaltion is a mess. Game is not translated normally not in Russian or English. If you play in English, you will see a huge number of grammatical errors. And if you play in Russian, you will see that half of the game is in English

Ill give it 3 stars for the production value and artwork, but the translation needs proof reading and the rampant misgendering of the female character (either though translation error or some handy wavey lore thing) took me right out of the game before I even left the doctors office.

There are a lot of things to like. The dev has clearly put a lot of work and a lot of thought into it. From a production standpoint, it is clearly 4-5 stars. The theming, the characters, the mini games... I mean, this is one of those rare times a dev can make a renpy AVN feel like an actual game. Seriously well done.

At the end of the day, however, it is just a grindy AVN. Find your pip boy, talk to so and so, get your uniform... yada yada yada. I played for a bit, killed a radroach, etc and found myself nodding off at the keyboard. Which, for me, sums up Deep Vault 69.

I am sure there will be a lot of people who love this, and I think this is something I would have loved when I first started getting into these things, but it just is not my thing anymore. I don't mind a little grind, but too much just gets boring for me. Especially when it is things like, get your uniform, take a 5 minute walk....

Regardless, if you are a fan of AVNs and you like the Fallout series, you should clearly download this and try it yourself. It is worth a playthru to make up your own mind.

And seriously... good luck to a very talented developer.

Story/Character:
The story is quite simple. You wake up from a hangover after celebrating passing your test to see what you’ll be in the future and it’s decided that you are an adventurer whose job is to explore outside the vault. I enjoy the current story and the whole game is a parody of the Fallout series. It’s a great homage to the series with lots of references from the game and lots of easter eggs from other pop culture as well. The story is not serious and is light-hearted.

The MC is your typical MC, nothing out of the ordinary. Just the randomly chosen one. What’s unique about this game is the choice of picking an female or male protagonist. Depending on the choices, there are different sex scenes and dialogue. I picked the male protagonist where I believe, currently it has more content than the female protagonist. All the girls in the game are great as well. They all have unique personalities and quirkiness to each other.

Content:
There is a chunk of content that will keep you occupied for a couple of hours. Each character has some sexual content, some more than others. The quality of sex content differs for each character with some having animations and long sex scenes. Whilst some are quite short, where the girl literally touches your dick and you cum.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is your sandbox game where you are entrapped in a vault with various rooms you can access to talk to the girls. The rooms and navigation of the sandbox are simple & well-managed. It’s divided into the main quest and the character stories. Once you get the job as an adventurer, you can explore the world outside the vault. The concept of exploring the wasteland is a bit confusing and a bit of a grind. There are various quest items required for pass quests but at times feels very confusing. I would grind 10-15 minutes for a single item and find myself confused. The turn-based combat system is okay, it needs some work but it still does it job. As well as the inventory and looting system is also a bit convoluted.

Visuals:
The visuals are amazing! The 2D art is great and eye-catching. It definitely has influence from the summertime saga in regards to the art direction. But with the flair of fallout touch that very much fits the art style. Sex scenes are sometimes great, other times are okay. Animations that are done in the game are done very well and smoothly, albeit there are few of them. I give kudos to the developer about the actual feel and look of the game. It does homage to the Fallout series from the UI of the neon green contrasting with the black. The map of navigating through the vault is a love letter to the fallout shelter game. Stemming from it’s mini-game as well.

Sound:
The sound design is fantastic. The old-school radio in the background makes me feel like I’m playing a Fallout DLC. Sound effects of saving your file have that iconic fallout sound that feels nostalgic. Sex sounds are hot and does it job, but are inconsistent as it doesn’t appear in every sex scene.

This is honestly such a great homage and parody of the fallout series. It feels like a 2D Fallout adult game as a spin off. If you’ve played or like the fallout series, this would be a great game to play. Through the references and easter eggs, you’ll definitely get a few chuckles and a pleasant time with your hand.

The art is good but the game is put together with spit and glue, I've broken several quests by just doing the bare minimum of what's asked.
I get why the Mc goes by male pronouns but I feel like that should be changed if you choose a female character.

Although the art is rather alright, the gameplay is rather frustrating. Oftentimes, you keep attacking only to miss, and you find yourself dying to a creature that could only take 2 hits from you. Plus, resources (things?) are too hard to come by for trade with the mercenary twins. Not only that, but the english translation is rather poor. It's a good thing that the gallery's unlocked when you download this, because the art's really the only thing worth it in this game.

One of the visual novels you just have to play. Beautiful visual style, fun story, great cutscenes and good mini-games. For me, it's definitely "one of those" visual novels now .

The game also gets an extra star from me because of the speed of development compared to others

The art style is good and I think it expresses the identity of the Fallout game well. I look forward to the development of the game in the future.

Animation is a solid plus, the creator made their own designs and drawings. It's hardder but drawn games can be so much more interesting.
Scripting needs some work, the language shifts to something else randomly. This is still very much in its infancy so I assume it'll be very different a year from now.
Overall solid content however it sometimes feel like there is more description then imagery which can feel discombobulating.
