The Spaniards had the very real advantage of knowing they had a massive advantage in military tech when they went in - and a reasonable idea of the Mesoamerican political landscape by the time Cortés decided to take a shot at the Aztecs thanks to him having picked up some locals knowledgeable of such matters - whereas this boi is apparently invading other side of the world blind deaf and dumb.Perhaps they were very small kingdoms.
On the other hand, Cortez conquered the Aztecs with 500 soldiers in real life so I guess it's not too big of a stretch.
Also up to two hundred thousand allied native soldiers from assorted local polities with axes to grind with the Aztecs, above all from their eastern arch-enemy the Tlaxcala, and due all-important logistical support to go with it (IIRC the Spaniards thought the local fletchers made very good crossbow bolts once given the specifications, for one example). That bit was... Kind of a Big Deal.
The far nastier imported Eurasian pathogens killing locals left right and center without the Europeans even seeing them didn't exactly hurt either. Got a tad problematic post-Conquest when their new taxpaying and working subjects kept dying in droves tho, that obviously isn't great for economic productivity.
