No, that's actually a very good thing and not a waste at all. People start getting anxious when a dev just goes dark, seeing that are out, about, and making art buys you more goodwill than you realize.I stream for ~2 hours a week, it lets me hang out with my audience and I can engage with them and take some doodle suggestions on the streams where I'm not making things that will go in game (which is like a 50/50 split). Folks can think they're a waste if they want, it's a minimal amount of time and I enjoy it and the people that participate enjoy it as well so it's not wasted time to me
I'm a codemonkey for a living and while I don't interact with our companies clients often whenever I drop on a call and show them what I'm doing they tend to be calmer when we need to push back deliver dates. For patreon your community is the client, showing them that you are actually doing the job may not be as productive as working in private but it is not a waste of time.
