I’m under the impression that they just switched the story midways.

At first Jon’s demonic mind control thing (=background story) was to be the main means for seducing Leslie (=the actual main plot), turning him into somewhat of a jerk.

But now it looks like Lilith is going to seduce Leslie to give into her desires for Jon, which results in a much better story-line and turns Jon into a more likable character.

They also shifted away from the “has to have sex with X women in Y time”, so that the player doesn’t have to worry about a ticking clock. But that also means that the demon curse has lost it’s sense of urgency, making it even more of a “background event”.

This leads me to the following expectations:
-) The mind-control skill will only be of little future relevance, since it makes Jon look immoral and weak, especially when used on friends & family.
-) Lilith herself will substitute for that, and play a mayor role in the seduction of Leslie & Ashley.
-) The demon curse plot will become an encapsulated story of it’s own. Beyond that it will only serve as a plot device when necessary.

Yeah, it definately makes him more likeable than hypnotizing women to sleep with him. Only thing is, we haven't seen much of the family corruption anyway. Only blowjobs and titjobs so far. His cousin and aunt are a couple of sluts who will sleep with anybody, which is good since that's the first taboo to be broken. Sleeping with your sister? Ew, gross. Sleeping with your hot cousin you didn't know was your cousin? Perfectly acceptable. But once you've done that....

We're in the middle of the story right now. Character and world building. Breadman can take this story any sort of direction. Fun to guess, though.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if there's more to Lillith's plan(s) than she's told the MC.
A complete scumbag MC that influences/corrupts/mind controls every bangable woman isn't unusual in porn games. Hell, it seems like one of the most repeated archetypes for male porn MCs, bar none. Including their own family in an incest game.

For the MC, she's been keeping things simple and easier for him to follow/adapt to. Outside of that, her active involvement with Leslie in particular, and the manner of her involvement and how she manipulates the MC is contrary to what she's told him. In fact, her influencing Leslie as she has been behind the MC's back is actively helping him acheive the goal he's been given to accomplish in the limited timeframe she's told him he has to save his soul.

Leslie is unaware, but Lilith has focused on corrupting her more than any other character. There's the obvious argument that Lilith could be forcing MC to break that final tabooin order to seal his damnation, but he already wants to bang Leslie.

No clue what Breadman plans to do. Could wind up being a vicious battle for MC's soul with Lilith and Leslie (Both names starting with the letter L...) doing their best to seduce him to their view. Maybe Leslie is a fallen angel, which would explain the MC being able to use light and dark?

To me, this is what seperates Demon Deals from other games. There are mulitple paths it can follow yet it offers plenty of spank material while we get into the story. We all have our favorites with most having larger breasts. Leslie is arguably the most popular character on the entire site, but for me, I want to see more of the goth chick. It's nice to see the MC trying to rail someone because he likes them rather than it being for revenge or family.

The Light side stuff came when Gabriel turned up that first time.

The mind powers are more of a gentle nudge than outright control. Why he can't just snap his fingers and bang all of the girls in short order. I think Lillith is just getting involved to help push Leslie down that path as it serves her goals. Notice how Lillith also helped MC out with Ashley by relieving him because Ash wasn't at that point yet either.

Also it's a bit early to call how much of an influence Lillith will put into corrupting the other girls because we've only had 2 out of the 18 or so focus girls so far. Still very early days yet.

I haven't switched the story away from my original plan at all regarding the main plot or family, some game-element things (like the corruption/purity alt dialogues and the contract time limit) were removed to make the development more easy on me and less stressful for the players (I still want the time limit back once the games complete haha) but I think any switching you're picking up on is more just shifting focus as we move out of the set-up portion of the story and in to the Focus Girl and development of the family arcs

I disturbs me how many people take ingame/instory narrative at face value, Lilith is a DEMON...her job is to corrupt people... what better way to corrupt a young man is there than to convince him he is doomed unless he does something that he has always wanted to do (but has never done because of [reasons])... Start him on the road to corruption by letting him justify it as something he HAD to do to survive and when he has eased into the role, further corruption becomes so much easier.

It's a pretty decent crutch though as far as plot devices go. It forces the writer to move things along quickly rather than falling into the trap of the hero having down time between action scenes.

One of my favorite old school sci-fi fantasy novelists famously wrote a lot of his early work rapidfire to pay the bills. We're talking about writing a novel start to finish in 3 days fast. For these kinds of novels putting the protagonist on a strict deadline can help out a lot. The rushed nature of the story is hand waved away by the necessity of the protagonist to literally rush through whatever task they've had thrust upon them. Here's a quote I found about him talking about it: “It’s a classic formula: ‘We’ve only got six days to save the world!’ Immediately you’ve set the reader up with a structure: there are only six days, then five, then four, and finally … there’s only 26 seconds to save the world! Will they make it in time?”

The result is usually simplistic but sometimes that's all you want out of a dime store novel. And let's face it, the quality of writing in most porn games and romance novels is rudimentary at best. If I ever get around to writing my own game/novel I'll definitely be using that plot device to move things along.

Sorry to say no, there isn't right now. The mean/nice alt dialogues might not return, I wanna give players as much choice as I can but limiting the story to a single, more linear narrative is likely what the game will be for the foreseeable future

Ticking Clock, it's a trope for a reason haha the thing works. Not for a story in active development where a player can spend an indeterminate number of days spamming sleep to get through a specific girls update of course, but finished game - absolutely

I think the right balance between player exploration and impetus for the story to be completed can be struck, the game exists as an endless summer but in the finished product I feel like giving stakes and risks for the story is important, and I think we can find the amount of time/days in game where it's a factor but not a stressful one for the player to consider

Ehhh. It isn't so much about cutting corners but rather keeping the writer on their toes. Having a set deadline in the plot keeps the story progression going. Anyone who has attempted to write fiction will inevitably encounter the issue where the story just sort of drops off at some point. If you don't address the issue properly the reader will get bored quickly. There are many ways of dealing with it: prophetic dream sequences, flash backs, jumping to a B Plot, etc, are popular tools to use when things start to slow down. But alternatively you could apply the aforementioned 7 Days to Save The World strategy and go all gas no breaks on the plot. The story can't slow down otherwise the protagonist fails.

As a side note, I think a good default time setting for your typical 18-19 year old protagonist in a porn game would be that gap between the end of High School and the start of College. Somewhere between 100 and 150 days. The choice of going to college or not puts a clear deadline on the story, will protagonist move away in the fall or will they fall in love and stay? The point is that even from the beginning of the story the end is in sight. You don't know what it will be, but it's there and you can literally count the days to it. Having that kind of clear direction can make writing easier because no matter how many twists you pull along the way the end is there waiting.

This is getting a bit off topic though so if I want to keep ruminating I should probably post in general discussions.

Yep I agree, you absolutely need stakes/risks to make a story interesting, I've said nothing to the contrary (at least not intentionally), but stakes don't have to mean rushing the player. I'm not going to criticise you for using trobes/cliches, it's a porn game after all and you have to use every trick in the book if you hope to maintain productivity, I'm simply hoping you'll throw in a few surprises and challenge some preconceptions in an effort to prevent it from feeling too formulaic.
