VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Depraved Awakening [v1.0] [PhillyGames]

Alright, so it took me a little while to get through this one but I finally finished at least one of the routes the other day. I pushed through it and it actually wasn't even as long as I thought it was. Idk if that's because it's fully completed, or I just went in with the determination to get this one done and over with. Trying to cut down on my count of backlog.

Anyway, let's get right into it. This game... Was average. I mean I'm on the verge of saying it was overrated, but Idk. I feel like it both does and doesn't.

For what it's worth, this game does have it's fair share of twists and turns. There was a few times as I was reading it, where I was actually surprised and didn't see something coming. Other twists are of course obvious if you know what to look for, or give you a big clue that one of the twists is coming up further down the road. Nothing wrong with that, games, books, and movies, are ALWAYS gonna do that to someone.

Now here's where it gets personal for me. At the end of the day I know this is an adult site, and I know these are adult Visual Novels, and in a way this game does what it's supposed to do, but I believe there can be more to these games than just pointless sex filled romps for the sake of them. Some of them relate to the plot, I mean none of them are truly meaningless, but there's a lot of places where they don't have to be there and they are. It's not like I'm anti sex scenes, but I think a good build and the right moment are key in stories like this. Also not wearing out your welcome would be nice. There are times where you can decline the intimacy, but just know you'll pay a price for it.

So overall, yes the story was decent. You play as a detective, a private one, that was a former cop, and you finish a case, but that case closing leads to another one, that is related, opening. There you are sent into the darkness of the city as a plot with power players big enough to do some real damage to the place unfolds. Now you get to decide if you're going to be a complete horndog and bang almost every chick you see, stay loyal to one or a couple, or none of em at all (well you can try idk how that works out.)

The story does a solid job of telling itself and introducing new characters that don't overwhelm you with trying to tell who is who. It also makes a cast of different people and you get to choose which kinda person interests you. You should definitely be feeling different ways about different characters by the time this one is over. All in all the story isn't the most creative, it's creative enough that it does it's job and that's all.

The sex scenes which are the biggest thing in this game, are, again just like the story, just okay. In the beginning, they're there and like they're not really that hot or super well done, well not compared to some of the top games of today, but that's okay, this is an older game. The later ones have better animations and are somewhat better. By the time these come around you may have done a character once or twice already, or built some kinda rapport with them (and done them once or twice already). A lot of them tho, are just there for those who like the sex.

So in conclusion, if you're interested in a sex filled, noir like detective story, you will LOVE this game. If you're into a game with an intriguing plot complemented by sex scenes, at best you'll have indifference to it. If you're a story over sex scenes kinda person (rare I guess), then you probably won't like or love this game. For it's position on this site and in the AVN world, I just expected better I guess and this wasn't it. It was okay but just not what it's hyped up to be in my opinion. The creator's new game is MUCH much better. I am thoroughly enjoying that one, and it's a big improvement in just about every thing over this one.

An actual finished game with a decent story though I wanted a few more endings fleshed out. Hot and interesting characters. There's not really a lot more you could ask for a straight forward noir themed adult vn. Very solid and recommended.

Great, somewhat believable ( ) storyline, lots and lots of great renders and animations, music that adds to the atmosphere, all in all, just a great game! I'm expecting great things from future PhillyGames games

1. The story itself is great. I really enjoy the development through out the game.
2. The animation is not as great as I expect, but it is still enjoyable.
3. The characters are so great! I really like them, probably the best part of the game.
4. The controls are pretty basic, nothing's really hard. You can jump straight to the game because it basically consists of clicking only.
5. The scoring system is easy to understand.

at one point, i was not masturbating anymore. i was just pursuing those motherfuckers. no grind or shit, pure story. best game here i think. i was convinced that the renders were just real, don't play compressed, i beg you.

I was hoping for something better. Game has average dialogues, nice story but with too many sex scenes (especially ones that you cant skip - it makes you feel like you dont have a choice). There is so many nice characters (also all of them looks amazing!). I wish there will be more choices and possibility to be faithful with one girl (but you HAVE TO fuck some other).

But it was my second game like that. First one was Acting Lessions, so because of that my expacations was too high.

I played a lot of Ren'Py games and I have to say, Depraved Awakening is one of the best, I have ever played!
The story is interesting, not repetitive and you never feel like skipping it. With the just the right amount of sex scenes in between. This game definitely has the best story/sex ratio out there.
And the sex scene are pretty well done, not only are the girls extremly hot, they are also quite different from one another. And on top of it, you can sort of choose how they play out, with different scenes in different stages.
I personally like rough sex scenes, but that might not be the case for everyone, so keep that in mind.

I have to say that I've enjoyed few games like this one. The story catches you and doesn't leaves you until the very end, something not a lot of games can say. And a special mention to the music, it's great and matches every situation on the game.

This game really raises the standards of the adult category.
It's a brilliant work of noir genre, with decisions that have different impacts on the playthrough.
The dark atmosphere of the whole game is very well achieved, with a powerful soundtrack according to each situation.
We find scenes very well performed, some of deep drama and also others much more relaxed, but both very enjoyable.
The development of the characters is very good, they are different from each other and according to the story.
The quality of the renders is sublime and is in line with the whole work.
Highly recommended for lovers of the genre noir.

Thank you PhillyGames for putting so much effort into making this visual novel. I RECOMMEND it to all Visual Novel fans to atleast experience it for one time. It has an attractive storyline with variety of characters and an option with a path for almost all of them One of the the greatest Visual Novels of all time !

Honestly im very disapointed, after reading many great reviews telling how good of a story is in this game , the excellent writing the amazing renders ppfft..well the story is all right at much, the girls the just look creepy as hell, i could not follow. such a turn off than on the first 2 min the MC had already fucked 2 girls, and half way of fucking his step daughter wich he hadn't seen in many years. maybe my review i wrong becouse i could play more than 30 minutes.

Great story.
It's hard to find an adult game that have a good story with a great art/CG now aday. Most of adult game about is how to bang this girl or haw to create a harem, but this game gave us a filling like we watch some good movie not just play it. It's worth your time for sure if what you seek is a great story h game. Sorry for my bad eng anyway.

Actual interesting story and atmosphere and great girls with fun personalities. Especially having a character with daddy issues who isn't your actual daughter is really hot and not something I've seen done well before.

Depraved Awakening is THE fucking gold standard for what an adult 3d rendered visual novel is and should be. A perfect ten when compared to any (completed) adult VN on the market. It's not without flaws though, I will list them later. I have now played my fair share of VN games and this is by far the best (completed as of July 2019) game of them all. Though there are a few in development right now that I feel may have the potential to top this we will just have to wait and see if that happens. So far, if you are looking to play a complete game with realistic violence, dirty sex, intrigue, a captivating story with well written dialogues and a satisfying ending then this game is for you. The choices feel real and have impact, making the replayability of this game high.
The dirty sex scenes are really depraved and gives the name of the game justice. I felt really bad watching a certain innocent selfless and cute character being forced to fuck a disgusting gangster. PhillyGames really knows how to turn my stomach by feeding this poor girl to the wolves. -And not just once! No other adult VN has had this emotional impact on me.
The music is great, the characters feel real and engaging. This is just an all around great game with a great story.
Now to the (small) defects:
Why oh WHY must the MC chose to pull out from great sex to finish on tits/in mouth/on face? This makes no sense to me at all. Especially the scenes when MC is drugged. Would he really have the mental faculties to pull out? Is shooting in girls faces his kink? If so, why can't I chose it to NOT be my MC:s kink? This irks me. I don't like being forced to play a fanatical face/tits sprayer if I don't have to.
Here's how sex should go: Guy about to cum - Guy announces he's about to cum (if he's nice, otherwise he just shoots) - Girl: Yea do it!/Don't cum in me! - Guy shoots as requested or (if he's a dick) inside. It's not hard people. Watching pull out game happen for the first half of this game had me feeling teased for no reason. In real passionate sex people don't pull out and they don't give a fuck about consequences. It's what makes the passion believable. I feel the sex scenes suffer a bit from too-much-porn-syndrome.
Speaking of creampies, I feel this game does not take these scenes seriously. Cum is not rendered very life-like and the cum scenes are often just the screen blinking followed by cum magically appearing somewhere on/in the girl. Or we don't get to see the aftermath at all. Just blinking screen then fade to black and "---3 hours later... ---"
Another (slight) negative is that the animated scenes in the beginning of the game are a lot weaker than what they are closer to the end. I can almost feel the hardware being upgraded or the budget being expanded as the game goes on (which may be completely natural, because that's probably what happened) I wouldn't mind a 1.1 version of this game with all animated scenes being upgraded to the same quality as in the end of the game.
Also story wise, I feel that showing how the anime girl requested the drinks being spiked was way too much exposé. A smart reader could have figured that out without it being shoved in our faces. The anime girl being evil could have been a nice story twist if delivered correctly. Now it just feels a bit... meh. Also why is there an anime girl in this? All other characters seem natural and believable. And what's with the "meanwhile at evil headquarters"-scenes? Unnecessary and too much exposé.
This is all just nitpicking though. The game is truly great and warmly recommended!
(And to you faggots rating this game 1/5 or 2/5 just what in the FUCK are you comparing it to? I get that if all you are into are metroidvania futa tentacle rape games then maybe you wold give this game a 1 or a 2 but it's not like you were deceived when downloading this game into thinking it's something it's not. If you rate this game a 1 or a 2 then I NEED to know what a 5 is to you, because I've looked around and nothing I've encountered would be even 1 or 2 points higher on any scale than what this game is. Are you just shills for other games trying to get your game to the top of the ranking lists? A 1 or a 2 makes absolutely no sense! Please explain it to me!)

An interesting story, but its execution is not my total pleasure, yes, it is a visual novel and therefore it has a lot of text, but sometimes I feel that it has more text than I lose a bit the interest to continue reading, the art of characters and scenes are pretty good, much better than other games, are those that have something curious.

This game is impressive in every possible way.

It has excellent visuals, music, and atmosphere. The story is suspenseful, the game has multiple endings, and there are many path variations to explore as you play through the game. These paths are opened up by the previous choices you make, sometimes because of how you handled a specific situation, other times because of the effects of cumulative choices made to increase your stats. These stats include lust and affection points for the main women in the game, as well as a depravity score for your character. The depravity score is hidden, but the others can be viewed at any time by clicking on the stat bar in the upper right corner of the screen. There is also a gallery that will allow you to replay scenes once unlocked in the game.

The only major complaint I have with the game is that there is a very out of place joke about another game in the middle of a dramatic action sequence. It was a gag that disrupted the flow of the climactic chase scene and really took me out of the moment.
