well, right click the game on steam, go to Manage, browse local files. then you take the game folder from the archive and put into the folder steam just opened for you.

Not sure if its a mod thing or base game thing but I'm locked out of progressing after starting a new game. After showing fairy to the family all quests are in the "progress other quests" besides waiting for kat to visit and advancing 20+ days she never shows up.
honestly what's the point of this mod? I play the first scene and it alrady tries to hide the rougher options from me. Is this for social lecturing or what it is supposed to be: an indication on how choices affect character stats and hinting at different outcomes later in the game?

I agree that sometimes it's more showing personal preferences (without saying it) as the obviously good choice and it actually hides some content some would consider interesting. Other times it does the better thing, just pointing out the consequences of your choice "Shani +2 Help" vs "Shani +2 Self", "Queen +1 Dom" or "Queen +1 Sub" for example. I would prefer the mod to be more in that fashion instead of literally chosing between two options and showing in green the one that, for example, avoids a sex scene, or assuming we are not into sharing or that we are into sharing depending on the character, as it's not even constant on "not sharing".
I still appreciate the WT mod but unless you're only interested in the virtous route, it's not good enough to be a standalone way of playing the game to get what you want, or if you're a completist that wants to follow several routes alternatively, I would use also the pdf WT to get other options.
As always, using this mod over a newer version is "likely" to work, but you will be overwritting most renpy scripts of the 17.1.2 version with those modded from the 17.1.1, so you're basically "downgrading" your installation to the previous version and losing the bugfixes included in the newer game patch.
Also there is a very small chance that some resource file (image, song, animation...) could have been renamed/deleted between the .1 and the .2 versions. This will cause an exception if the older scripts of the mod make reference to that changed asset. However, this is something very unlikely to happen between small bugfix releases.
I'm guessing AdanGC will wait to see if Zetan is launching another game hotfix soon. I guess it's a bit of a headache to be updating the Mod each time a small bugfix version is released. Assuming no new patches happen for v0.17 in a while, it should not be very difficult to get a revised version by then.
If in a couple of weeks from now there isn't a new Desert Stalker update in the horizon, and AdanGC has been unable to update his version by then, I might do an unofficial Mod update in the meantime until a proper Mod release happens, much in the same way I did for 0.16c a few months ago.

trhanks...that's why i don't like all these xbeta release , after months of developing an update...every time a new version come out it takes at least 2 months to be able to play the very final version of it...it's painful

In short. You "probably" can, but you will lose most (if not all) the changes of the hotfixed version if you try to unpack the older mod over the newer installation.

I just finished almost all the content (except the NTS sharing stuff, just not for me) and didn't encounter a single error using the "outdated" mod. Maybe the mod makes some of the bug fixes null but all the things I encountered on my 2 playthroughs (nice play and rough play) seemed normal to me.

Yeah... You are right... 1st I thought, it could be the fact, that I'm on Linux and I guess you are on Win...
But then I realized that I'm on 17.0.0 which caused the errors... Now I'm on 17.1.2 and got the same experience...
