Has anyone tried using this (old) version of the mod with the current version of the game? I will probably do so myself, but I skip a lot of content and so am not the best "tester" for such a thing.
Yeah, I tried it, and it worked fine until I got an error that made Ren'Py crash. The same event, tried several times, and always crashed. It's unstable. I had to reinstall the scripts and delete ModOptions.rpy from the game folder to make the AVN work properly. So, I don't recommend it.

The vast majority of modders do in fact work for free, it is the western visual novel community that has a significant number of people who make money from modding. Significant number in comparison to other video game communities that is. The vast majority of modders are hobbyists and do it for free.
Plus it's a scummy thing to do, riding someone else's coattails to make money. The developer puts in a ton of work on an update, then a modder comes along, does comparatively nothing (a game update can take months while the mod for it takes just a couple days or even hours), and expects to get paid too? F'n parasite behavior tbh.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. I agree that a lot of modders do relatively little work in comparison to game devs, but there are exceptions to this. There are quite a few modders that put out mods for dozens of games and are active with their updates for those mods. For the majority of modders than I have seen that do have a Patreon/Subscribestar/etc... account, all they are asking for is donations if you like their work. No money requirement. No paywalling content. Just a chance to drop them a donation if you think that their work is worth it.

When it comes to mods for games that I enjoy playing, we're all on a pirate site and should be grateful for the time and effort these devs and modders put into these games.

Money. This mod has a Patreon and SubscriberStar, he is not working for free as it should be. Nobody works for free, and nobody gives their work away. He probably must be working on updating the mod, or like the people are saying, waiting for a full release to keep working on it.
Where is this modders patreon? Can you show me? Or are you just talking out of your ass?

On the modder profil there is a patreon link button, tho its right now show a under checkup patreon.

Now since he added subscribestar and he doesn't appear to have any, i will guess they are just like any viewers on twitch unable to read the freaking title of the stream or look at the streaming category to know the name of the games and always spam the tchat asking question that could be answered by just looking at the stream for more than 5sec, and are so simple they didn't even notice that the patreon and subscribestar the modder put on the mod page, are the Games/Creator Patreon/SubcribeStar, meanwhile he only give a link to his own discord.

Now if a modder have his own donation link, i don't understand why they are so salty about it. If they make walkthrough mods its because the game lack it, just like any normal game can have mods. . . And they are not paywalling those mods, so any donation they receive are purely on the decision of the donator, and its never gonna be money the devs would be missing apart from the fact, that the game itself lack the content the mods provide.

Desert Stalker [v0.18.1] [Zetan]
The non-beta version has been updated. If wait, will the mod be uploaded now?
It won't be updated till the final/general release. General release will be when it goes live on Steam/Itch and everywhere else.

There have already been bugs reported in v0.18.1, so there will undoubtable be more bug fixes coming.

I'd imagine v0.18.2 will be the final release and should be in the coming days.

Yeah just like those pesky car/electronic repair shops raiding on coattails of manufacturers...
Just make a build in mod, no idea why its so rare, same with other QoL stuff like textbox opacity.

I am always surprised by those who think that the work of modders should not be paid, given that mods really help players reduce the time of passage, allowing them to see all the scenes in one playthrough. And subscriptions to mods cost a couple of bucks at most, while I live in a country where Patreon is blocked and I still manage to support the modders I like. Again, in a day or two, mods come out for free. So what's the difficulty in waiting? And making a mod is not marking false in a file as true, but this is work done. If the developers really cared about this, they themselves could add wt to their games.
And by this logic, people who tune cars should also work for free, because they also only make improvements? There are many examples.
And a huge thank you to the people who create mods and compress the version of games, because they save players a lot of time.
