I guess that I download too much but yesterday I got a Hard Disk full message...

So today I'm cleaning up my games download folder by sorting all files by file name and deleting old versions, but I noticed the following:
- There are several zip files without version number
- In some games, the file name changes

At the moment, I try to keep the latest version zipfile in my archive, but with the issues mentioned above, it gets a bit confusing...

So, if all files could be named:
GameName0095.zip
GameName0040.zip
GameName0001.zip
etc., then life would be easy

Instead of:
Game-Name-0095.zip
GameName.zip
GameName.zip
GN03.zip
Game-Name1.rar
etc., which makes things confusing.

That would be highly appreciated.

The same goes for the extracted folder / directory obviously.
If the extracted folder could have the same name as the zipfile (e.g. GameName0095), that would make life MUCH easier!

Also, I find that abbreviations can make things confusing and complicated. Especially if there are more games with different full titles but with the same abbreviation (e.g. Sisterly Lust and Sisterly Love, both SL).

Finally, there are games with major plot changes, where you may like to keep an older version number before the plot change (e.g. Teachers Pets). It would be great if this could somehow be indicated in the file name / version number...

Thanks!

Edited to say: yes, I know that this is a pirate forum and nobody is obliged to do anything to please me or others here.

I feel your pain a little, I try and keep my D/L on my 2nd hard drive and regularly see it's volume going red
I have a folder for each download named so I can ID it easily eg the Sisterly Love zip is SL_<version NO>. I will also put in sub-folders to id obsure things, eg my BB mod games are in a folder named 'Mods' and each in a sub-folder of their own.
Also I have my folder view set to "Details" with the date modified column showing. It's easy then, when tidying up, the oldest goes.

I never had a problem getting the folder after extraction with the same name. I don't know how you work but ... I don't know ... there is an option to extract in a folder of the same name, right?

For the rest ... Obviously it would be better. You have to download a lot... and potentially a lot that I don't know since I have "almost" never seen a zip without version.

Personally I prefer to delete everything after I played a game and inspect all the files; [just in case I forgot of something during my gameplay] theres no point to save "V0.x" of a game because a new it will come soon. If the game is a RPGM game just keep your Save.

I recommend you to make a list [Notepad or Word] of the games you are interested in, detailing which version it is in, you can add some specifications, like in which page is a specifics route of your gameplay.

I wish you the best.

the good thing is some games already have their version number on the zip files
Don't forget you can rename your folders/files yourself.

As for organizing stuff and games with similar acronyms. I agree it can be a problem but I suggest making a folder named Sisterly love and adding the different version of the sisterly love game in that folder.

As a student in tech support. I strongly suggest checking the partition of your HDD to see if your HDD is not divided in 2 section, 1 being full and the other not used.
I also recommend downloading WindirStat, which allows to have a visual interpretation of your computer and which folder takes the most place

You could have a great collection :O I'm now investing in HDD because I want to store my stuff because my internet is a slow AF (not only these stuff but college and other goodies).

When I download something I take more time to organize it because later it will be painful. I wiped my "Downloads" folder several times and later realize I had some goods there. I changed that because downloading even a 500 MB anything is takes a half or more of an hour.

Just started reorganizing my storage drive also. Never thought I'd have over 300GB in porn games, but here I am. Noticed that recently it's become way more difficult to locate one specific game in my "collection" when I'm looking to play something older.

Like OP said, it's definitely frustrating when you have old versions of games that don't have version numbers, and you aren't sure which is the newest. But personally, I think that's on me. It's the user's prerogative to label their downloads and keep with whatever standard that specific user employs. As evidenced by the wide difference of initial release version numbers developers use (anywhere from v0.0.1 to v1.0, to any number of oddities in between), it's unlikely that you're ever going to get the majority of developers to adhere to version number standardization in their filenames.

So, now I've begun the task of reorganizing and relabeling all of my downloads (as well as clearing out games I've tried didn't like). What a tedious chore! And I only have myself to blame for being so disorganized when I was downloading all of this stuff.
