i'm noticing some of the games with the rape tab don't look very rapey, do they just add that tag in?

There's also degrees of rape.

Coercion in to sex via blackmail or similar, sleep sex, getting someone drugged up (either to unconsciousness or mythical horniness drugs) then fucking them - and then there's punching them in the face and choking them out while you cram something in to them (or cram something of theirs in to you)

All of those - and more - are rape. You may just not take the one optional path that lets you fuck someone in their sleep, so you completely miss the rape scene in an otherwise consensual-sex based game.

the site definition is very short and general so it fits a wide variety of scenarios.

Remember rape it's a word with a clear definition. Like the guy above me said, it's forced or non-consensual sex. Based on my experience, some of the games with this tag have clear signs of rape, like touching or having sex with a woman asleep, or under the effect of drugs or alcohol, and some scenes where a guy or even a girl with a position in-power uses this power to force a character to intimate. Despite of some scenes beign colorful, it's clearly rape for the simple fact that the sex it's non-consensual or forced. It's not necessary to make a grotesque or strong scene to consider it rape, that's my point. True, rape it's something horrible for a person in real life, and that's probably why some people forget they're playing a pornographic game where the consequences will be less terrible than in real life and even the concept can be somewhat romantized.

Not really. There's been a social effort to classify all forms of non-consent and dubious consent as "rape", from being held down and forcibly penetrated to having your acting career threatened by some sleazy film producer. Regardless of the intent of doing this, it's not helpful for finding games with specific themes, and generally as far as I can tell the tags on here ignore this. There are lots of trainers that have relationships founded on coercion or even slavery but that don't have the "rape" tag because the "trainee" nominally agrees to each act.

Technically coersion is not [rape] in porn.
It will most likely fall under [blackmail] tag if you are using something against that person, or [sexual harassment] if you are using persuasion/grooming.

[Sleep sex] has its own tag same with [Drugs], they should all be different things.

[Rape] should be used exclusively for forced sex from my understanding. So if you see a game using rape tag but actually depicted something else free to write a report explaining what other tag would be more appropriate following the tag rules of course.

Some games have the rape tag but the actual incidents of rape aren't things that you see and experience as the MC. They instead come up as things that have happened or that characters/LI's have experienced in the past. For example in Hillside or Summer Scent.
