do you buy games after pirating them?

I've bought 4 games IRL after pirating them. As for porn games, several years ago, I downloaded a couple of games from here and decided to throw a few dollars towards 2 devs.

Only if I enjoy it beyond getting a quick wank from it. If it's a completed game, I'll usually buy it from the store that gives the most amount of money to the dev, if it's in the development, I'll usually give 5-10 bucks for a couple of months on whatever site I can use to support them.
I'd go bankrupt if I were to buy every shitty game I tried out for 10 min, and then deleted.

i am currently supporting 4 patreons

ive probably subbed to about 10~

if I enjoy the game ill support it for a few months depending on the cost, generally if there is a game that I can support for cheap (3$-5$) ill support longer, and ill continue to support if they continue to make progress

but ive also bought full releases of games that I really enjoyed (that i "pirated" first)

the issue is alot of patreons treat it the same as a go-fund-me

Back at the unversity I set up a file sharing server at our frat house because a lot of us liked to play games but few of us had the neccessary funds to pay for games, films and the enormous amounts of porn (this was before the advent of modern porn sites, when most porn was still full lenght films) after living expenses and party expenses. The server was hidden so well in a secret compartment under the stairs that even the police couldn't find it during a raid (Some idiot frat brothers had gotten themselves involved in an online get-rich-quick-scheme that was actually designed to set people up as fall guys for some Eastern European cybercrime gang. You had to be really dumb to not see the writing on the wall and yet they fell for it. Since they were living at the frat house the feds raided the place a few weeks later. The guys got sentenced to a few months of prison, reduced to a few years of probation and had to pay a almost a hundred grand for damages. I'm not joking.).
I don't think I payed for a single game except an MMO back then.
Later, after I had secured my first real job and fitted out my first own flat I moved on to pirating most games and then buying the ones I liked.
Today I have a well paying job, successfully avoided getting burdened with offspring and just have the money to buy whatever I want to try out and not bother with piracy if something is available legally. That includes supporting about 15 devs at the moment. Of course, living in a non-English-speaking European country I never stopped pirating TV shows and films, since I'm not the type of person who patiently waits for months until the release a localised version, especially when my English-speaking friends already have access, we like to talk about it and I prefer the English version anyways. And thanks to the recent fragmentation of the streaming market I'm back to pirating because I'm not getting half a dozen different subscriptions just to watch a few TV shows. So, if it's not on Netflix or Prime: Fuck them and fire up the torrent client! ;)
When it comes to adult games, I use this site to discover new games and support them if I like them. Piracy instead of a demo version.

I do, if I like them enough. Though I want to make clear that "buy" doesn't mean "subscribe"—I have no issue making a proper purchase (porn games included) or even backing Kickstarter projects but I have a grand total of 0 Patreon subscriptions and I'm pretty cool with this. I'm... just not fond of the subscription model in the first place.

Granted, when it comes to porn, I play very few Western games and they're the ones relying primarily on Patreon anyway.

I have bought 5 games so far from Steam and DLS site that I discovered through here, only completed ones though. I never trust my money with projects that will take years until its finished or is simply a glorified demo. With the expection of artists since they always post regularly.

Will never invest in kickstarter or early access shit.

Yes, but I prefer exactly buying the games. Supporting people on Patreon is a bit too much for me.

I will occasionally support a dev or two from here for a while on patreon, or maybe toss a them a few bucks on buymeacoffee. Don't normally stay subbed for long though.

Don't generally "buy" the games from here however. I just try to send off a few bucks when I can afford it to a couple of the folks who are making good shit and don't have a ton of supporters yet.

Yes if:
  1. The game is worth buying
  2. The asking price is reasonable
  3. It works on Linux
  4. I can buy it on somewhere that's not Steam

The piracy culture surrounding adult games is just so strong. It turns out that lack of a good centralized source for purchasing them and stigma surrounding being a 'known pervert' who plays 'those kinds' of games are excellent excuses for people to use to rationalize away any guilt about their piracy (if any such thing even exists in the first place) when the truth is they just don't want to spend the money (although I'm probably just projecting here). It's a big problem holding back adult gaming's growth in terms of monetary incentive for skilled developers, and I don't know what a good solution would actually be.

That said, to answer the question and show my own hypocrisy, only once or twice. More often I have jumped on a few patreons here and there before usually ending up feeling pretty unsatisfied with the normal pace of crowdsourced adult game development.

If the game was worth my time, of course. Souls series were just amazing experience. I just had to buy. Adult games? I don't pirate them at all.

I have never supported someone on Patreon or Subscribestar without pirating the game first. Just like I've never bought a DVD without seeing the movie/TV show first or bought music (when that was a thing) without hearing it first.

Who wants to buy something that might be a waste of money? But at the same time, you should IHMO support some of the shit you like, otherwise some day no one is making things you like anymore.

No.
There are 3 things i will never buy on principle:
Porn.
Music.
Movies.

It used to be 4 but between steam and torrents giving me pc crashing viruses i stop trying to pirate games.

Will definitely never buy anything on patreon, and probably not on substar either, but did buy and plan on doing so again on steam.
But there are some problems... huge amount of games i bought and never touched, an obscenely massive wishlist which... i'm not sure i'll ever buy because i'm not the type to let my stuff just collect dust.
And so, wishlist became something of a track-keeper feature by now, for games i want to keep an eye on.
Anyway eventually yes but only on steam, but who knows when...:coffee:
Otherwise i'm sometimes doing a little proofreading, bug testing, idea-generating, and stuff and things.
Should be enough from li'l ol' me.

Also, you say "pirating" but in here, most of the games ain't even what i would bother calling piracy.
Most of them are public versions, given freely by the devs themselves because this place can blow up their game in popularity nearly as much as steam can. So, basically, they're already getting paid just by posting their game here. Massively.:coffee:
I mean, do you even know how much advertisement costs? Bet if i asked one of those AAA publishers they'd tell me "millions" right away. And devs that make good stuff get more than advertisement from this site.
