do you buy games after pirating them?

Yes. I support my favourite devs on Patreon and I also occasionally buy full games on dlsite or Kagura if I really like particular title and plan on playing it more than once.

Will definitely never buy anything on patreon, and probably not on substar either, but did buy and plan on doing so again on steam.
But there are some problems... huge amount of games i bought and never touched, an obscenely massive wishlist which... i'm not sure i'll ever buy because i'm not the type to let my stuff just collect dust.
And so, wishlist became something of a track-keeper feature by now, for games i want to keep an eye on.
Anyway eventually yes but only on steam, but who knows when...:coffee:
Otherwise i'm sometimes doing a little proofreading, bug testing, idea-generating, and stuff and things.
Should be enough from li'l ol' me.

Also, you say "pirating" but in here, most of the games ain't even what i would bother calling piracy.
Most of them are public versions, given freely by the devs themselves because this place can blow up their game in popularity nearly as much as steam can. So, basically, they're already getting paid just by posting their game here. Massively.:coffee:
I mean, do you even know how much advertisement costs? Bet if i asked one of those AAA publishers they'd tell me "millions" right away. And devs that make good stuff get more than advertisement from this site.
to be fair a lot of popular paid games get posted on here, prime example being ayura crisis and eris dysnomia. i also believe the dev for drain mansion isnt too happy about people leaking the latest version of his game on here.

Posting games you found on the torrents, or bought and shared, doesn't really make you a pirate though.
Real pirates actively crack games and other stuff. Dudes in here at most buy and share.
As far as i am concerned when you buy something it becomes yours, so if you want to share it that's your business.:coffee:

I have never supported someone on Patreon or Subscribestar without pirating the game first. Just like I've never bought a DVD without seeing the movie/TV show first or bought music (when that was a thing) without hearing it first.

Who wants to buy something that might be a waste of money? But at the same time, you should IHMO support some of the shit you like, otherwise some day no one is making things you like anymore.
This answer right here. I like this answer.
Good take.(y)

This post just made me think of how shit used to be like 10 years ago.
Wanna play something like Bazooka Cafe? Or Boob Wars?
First go download Daemon Tools Lite. Set up a Virtual Drive.
Change your system local to Japan.
Spend hours scouring the web for a cracked and translated copy of the game.
Spend several hours/days downloading 10 to 20 .zip files that when extracted together combine to form 1 ISO file. Load it up with Deamon Tools to the v-drive and run install.exe
Try to fight your way through the installer pop-ups because no one ever translated those fucking things.
Finally got ot installed? Good! After 6 hours to 4 days of pain stakkng hard work you're finally ready to play a 30 minute long game thay you'll only manage to unlock about 10% of the screens fpr by yourself without look up a walkthrough because the branching paths require you jumping through a series of 10,000 questions you need to answer in a very specific order.

Actually the difference was that since it took so long to set things up I would end up hoarding and replaying the same games several times over.

Nowadays I finish something, instant delete and move on to the next game.

Amazing how convenience changes your consumption habits.

I don't pirate non-porn games, however I don't buy very many either. Those I do buy simply have massive longevity for their price (e.g. Minecraft, Starcraft2+its editor, b2p MMOs, Vampire Survivors...) - I might download cracks or emulator ROMs of old games I already bought in the past though, instead of playing something like OG Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire or digging out a Broodwar cd key.

With adult games it's vastly different, but "shame" is not part of the equation for me. Not directly anyway. Rather it is almost impossible to get a proper sample including available fetish content without pirating the game first. And as you can guess I don't pay any subscriptions for incomplete products as that's just terrible value for money.

I mean, in all honesty main reason I pirate games is to try them. If I see that I like the game I'll buy it to support the developer.

Whilst I understand not everyone has or is in same financial situation, those who can afford it why not? It is still someone's work and effort.

But how much work and effort, and how much is that worth? Undertale costs around 10€/$, Minecraft around 30€/$ nowadays (and mods are free!) and 100€/$ will get you all Guild Wars 2 expansions with Deluxe perks and enough premium currency to buy most of the DLC content packs (as in, additional maps and story chapters not cosmetics). And none of those are subscriptions!

AI Shoujo is 60€ on Steam which already is a little high compared to Skyrim's 40€, however the porn market is smaller so whatever. But how is a 5€ monthly subscription for a cookie cutter visual novel in any way reasonable? (Granted I don't pirate those either unless the tags and stars align)

This is a matter of personal preferences, I can't determinate what you value and how much you value it and how you percieve these things. Some people will do it, some won't. I am not really sure what to tell you anymore aside of that. And well, not -everything- is a "cookie cutter visual novel".

Got burned once too many times on Kickstarter, so I learned my lesson there.

I don't pirate much of anything. These days I usually buy whatever I like on Steam, mostly RPGs or games with medieval aesthetics... then it collects dust in my library because I never have time to play video games anymore. Oh well, at least I won't be bored when retirement rolls around!:LOL::LOL:
