I'm curious on what people prefer for this. I have played games that offered each, and while I tend to not mind seeing the MC's face, I do mind when they choose a terrible model, then I tend to fall off playing the game because I hate what I look like.

I could choose I would say in pov for life. I'd choose to play it in third person, only if there was a way to customize the look a lot, only then, would I play the other way as well.
in pov the experience is much more immersive and it seems that it's really you in the game, for this reason I prefer it at least 60%-40% let's say as a percentage.

If the character is hot or had effort put into his appearance, show his face. If he's the default model from honey select or daz3d please spare us from looking at that mongrel.
That's true. If I have to see the same male MC that's used in multiple games (Leap of Faith, Maid to Please, etc) than I'd rather have POV.

I noticed a similar question posed and there are some nuances that I'm not considering. Male/female MC, can you name your MC? I know that might change which options those are going for.

That's a tough one, because in an ideal world, I'd be playing a FMC game and fucking/romancing a bevy of attractive people, and in that case, I might genuinely self-insert for once in my life. Like, I might actually not want to see the FMC's face under those circumstances

Otherwise though, I prefer set protags whom I see all the time (so long as they're somewhat likeable), because I find the expectation to self-insert as a faceless manblob with no personality all the time to be subtly alienating when I'm trying to get off. Not enough to stop me, but it's there in the back of my head, and I'd rather it wasn't. If the expectation is for a male MC to be a player self-insert... please, spare me having to look at his weird mug unless you've designed some kind of Adonis of Daz :/

POV can be so limiting. Let me see my character, assuming they aren't some hideous beast. Or look 12, even though you swear they super definitely aren't.

I prefer the MC to be shown in some way because pov kisses are weird and they don't arouse me at all. Lost at Birth is an example of a game that makes the kissing look good while still obscuring the MC's face.

I don't mind seeing MC's face as long as he doesn't look like a kid or like his body hasn't produced a miligram of testosteron since his birth.

If I make an effort to design an attractive MC, you can be sure as hell I'm gonna showcase him.

If the game is narrated in 3rd person, yes. If the game is narrated in 1st person, no. The "no" also applies when the MC is an ugly motherfucker with no chance to improve the looks later in the game.

I usually prefer to not be able to see the MC though, I like to be engaged on the story, as long the plot is decent.

Depends on how the MC looks. If its a generic Face then I'd rather not.

I loathe character creation in porn games. In mainstream games where basically any character model can do anything, I'm down. The original Saints Row series, for example, is one of my all-time favorites. But in porn games, you're asking for trouble if you make the main character able to change anything but their name, possibly their age within a certain range, or maybe their portrait (in an HTML game anyway). As such, I prefer specific non-ghost characters with specific faces visible sometimes.

Self Insert
[playerName] is the MC.
"You walk to the house."
Todd: "Hey [playerName] look at me."
"You look at Todd."

If the game wants you to self insert, then it's better to hide the MC's face, unless the player can customize the face, but this is rare in porn games, so for self insert, hide the face. Can someone counter my argument and tell me why it's better to show the MC's face if the game wants you to self insert?

Third Person
Bob is the MC
"Bob walked over to the house."
"What do you want Bob the MC to do?"

If all characters are referred to by name, including the MC, then it makes sense to show the face.

Conclusion
Are you making a game where the player is expected to self insert, or is the MC treated as a third person character, of which the story always refers to the MC by name; meaning, the game will never say things like, "You went to the house", instead it would say "Jacob went to the house.", of which Jacob is the MC.

I don't really mind it one way or the other, if the model looks good.

What I DO mind is showing me his gormless face in portrait next to every bit of dialogue he speaks. A generic male model with a bland expression looking into your soul as you try to read filthy talk really kills the mood, man

I'm not someone who is vehemently against showing the MCs face, even in games that are really supposed to be self-inserts. Give me Micheal 8 and be done with it. Clean, attractive, innofensive to look at. There are several other "stock" daz models that can plug and play as male MCs in my opinion. Worrying about it more than putting hair on him is wasted time when you should be worrying about the female characters. :WeSmart:

Show his face where it is necessary and appropriate. Often times you can get away with showing a partial face/from a back angle etc. This isn't because I lose immersion, it's because I don't wanna look at a guys face while I'm trying to choke a chicken, capiche?

AND FOR GOD SAKES don't fucking show me shots of the mc's face every second render, and don't you dare insert the mc making silly o-faces in the middle of sex-scenes:LOL:. You would think it wouldn't need to be said that nobody wants to go from looking at a bouncing pair of tits to the MC making a face like he got a surprise rear entry, but it's in enough games that it feels worth saying.
