A game that's made just for a quick fap will be forgettable. But if you have a good story, you give players a reason to cum back for more!

There are more efficient ways to get porn if you really don't care about gameplay, so you can write off anyone who doesn't value gameplay at all from the jump. The question isn't whether gameplay matters, but how to create an experience that complements the erotic components.
Is there any gameplay that isnt just things other games (both AAA and flash games) have done for decade or more? Other than obviously looking better etc is there really any difference between modern AVN and the adult games section of newgrounds in like 2010? 
Good story is requirement though if you just want porn waiting months and months for 2k renders is hilariously inefficient even if you arent paying for the game

Every now and than a little gem appears out of nowhere which is the beauty of it all.
Once you've seen the trending games and got bored of the repeating patterns which repeat because they succeed you start to notice them. I think what those projects have in common is a story/concept/art that stays true to what the Dev envisioned however odd or different that may be so to answer the original question...it depends on the vision as the player I am fine with both concepts but as Simpgor said before me fap games without story can only reinvent the wheel so many times before it falls off the wagon (an exception for me personally lately was A very full house, breath of fresh air concept wise)
So don't forget story and gameplay especially while you need to have fun creating your game in order to make it a good one.

I am more willing to try a game where the writing and story takes priority over the gameplay, since those two are what makes the scenes/scenarios more hot for me
But I had also like games where it was the opposite, where gameplay was so good that it carry me to end. Dark Hunter Kuro is am example of this game for me, the story was okay-sh BUT the gameplay was so much fun that I couldn´t stop playing
The best scenarios are where the game reward with sex scenes by playing good and not just by failling, Fallen Rose does this really well because you can unlock all scenes by getting the true ending. Or other example is games where you can keep playing after defeating the game to collect more scenes/endings like Rookie Knight Rathi and the others games from the same developer
Obviously all of this is considering than the art or pixel art can accompany whatever choice you end up going

The term for an eroge that is focused solely on the sexual content is "nukige". It's a genre that's focused on delivering porn as efficiently as possible without much regard for complex gameplay mechanics or intricate storylines.
I am personally a gameplay fiend and don't care much for story. For me, the best story is the one the player himself creates by interacting with the game mechanics.

My greatest issue with Desert Stalker is that it feels more like a movie than a game, which I wouldn't have an issue with if it weren't bold enough to include the "sandbox" tag. At its core it is really a linear adventure game with linear subplots that you simply choose to pursue or not based on your choices.
