Generally speaking, no. The writing tend to be shit in porn games (go figure). Stopped playing VN's altogether because of this. There are a few other games where I follow the narrative, though - gameplay-focused games where the narrative is light but well put together all the same.

I can't at all get why anyone would bother with VNs just for the pictures?? not judging, but you guys do know the internet is filled with porn, right? no reading required.

and even if you for some reason are into photographs instead of videos, the photo porn is also both ubiquitous and far far better than anything you could possibly make for a VN. by themselves pictures in VNs SUCK. even the best renders are 100x worse than photos of real things. they only exist to rhyme with the writing, the story. if you don't read it you're just doing a lot of unnecessary work to look at a handful of shitty pictures.

I generally try to read them. I often get bored quickly and quit only to try again in a few months/a year later.

If it has content I enjoy, even if the story is shit I'll still read it. There's a couple of novels I see people raving about how good it is, yet I can't get into it. I'd like my porn to have a good story. Hell, I'm even okay with long or very slow buildups, in some cases I want it! As long as it has content I enjoy, if you throw it at me I'll likely play it. I can only think maybe only The Deluca Family breaks that norm for me.

I think it's the same as asking what kind of movie someone likes. Some people fall asleep at non-action movies, where others love them. Other people only watch movies with a deeper storyline. And if you're like me, you like both.

My practice is straight skipping through everything, rolling back at choices to sort of understand what's going on. Once the full game's released I play it as it's supposed to.

UNLESS the game is very interesting or very long. For example I found games like WTHI, Being a DIK or Fantasy Valley very interesting, so I've played them slow to enjoy them. Summertime Saga on the other end is super long (we-ll that's probably an exaggeration, but there's a lot of stuff to go through to see the scenes) and now that it's at 2 updates a year it'll probably still be in development 10 years from now, so by now combining the time I've spent on it I've probably read most of it.

Mostly depends on the game, but since so many games are grind the same fucking scene 20 times I'll probably eventually read a line once in a while.

I usually don't download/play games where I don't need to read stuff. There are some exceptions of course like having great art style and animations yada yada. I actually do prefer games with puzzles in it to keep me excited about reading and solving it since reading stuff in puzzly games help you a lot. And I usually download those games based on their story and genre so yeah.
