Ren'Py - Double Perception [v4.4] [Zett]

I really like the concept. It's gonna be a lot of work building two worlds though! Hope this doesn't get abandoned. Keep up the great work! Let's get some more animations in early on. Don't want it to feel like too much of a grind or you'll lose a tone of people.

I love this game, the models are 10/10
It's very exciting, I like the mix of reality with the vr world. Playing it normally is a bit grindy but there are cheats included by the developer that make everything easier.
and the updates are fast and with great content.

It has a long-term development potential, I hope that the others will understand that a big project requires a lot of time to implement all the author's ideas(no offense).

Yes, some people would not like a part of this game, but how cool it would be if constructive feedback was given, but not a small rating that practically demoralizes the author,
That's why for now I give the maximum rating and I will judge objectively when the project is ready.

On the part of animations and renders, it's perfect for me 5/5.

What I would like to see in this project is the characters' dialogues with themselves as the relationship with them grows:
For example when you reach 10% of relationships a small dialogue about how the character feels towards the hero.

Very nice renders and models, animation is pretty ok too ! Little grind at first here and then, but there is a inbuilt cheat system to help. There isnt really a story but that don't bother me, more like little quest or mini event with the characters.

Conclusion:
This game is terrible. You could rename this to Grind Simulator, because everything revolves around grind.
You have to grind stats to unlock boring Scenes, you have to grind for money and play these stupid mini-games, you have to grind for stats and money in that pointless VR RPG game.
Nothing in this game, would I consider being fun, because it´s just a chore.
There is no Story in this game, so you have to talk to your mom and sis, grind stat points for love, lust, corruption to unlock boring “scenes”, in the worst way possible.
Corruption and lust points seem to be the most important ones and you gain them by rinse and repeating certain things, like massages for Rachel or getting caught fucking a blowup doll by the sis.
You can invite them to dinner, watch a movie, go to a spa and play shitty mini-games.
This Game has bugs like the interface disappearing, where you can´t leave a store for example, because the map doesn´t show up.
There is a sex scene where you drug your sister or mom, who wear VR Headsets and fuck them, but you can´t end the scene when pressing the red X button.
The Sex Scenes are really boring, even tho they are fairly well animated.
That VR concept absolutely sucks.
If I want to play an RPG game, I play an RPG game, and not some boring grindy shit inside a porn game.
Nothing in this game is mildly interesting and there´s no reward to the grind.
I don´t even see anything in this game, I would call having potential, because it feels empty, grindy and pointless.
Don´t waste your time.

I don't write reviews often but I just had to here.
A game's potential completely wasted by a developer who doesn't want to listen to players who ask him to change many aspects of the game....

Pros:
The characters and their animations (in the normal world) are done really well, you can't fault anything because the animations look good, the appearance of the characters also deserves praise and that's it, that's where the pros end.

Cons:
-A completely idiotic idea with the second world in a VR game, it completely kills the sense of the game by boring and meaningless tasks that no one wants to perform, of course it is a treatment aimed at milking money from the players for subsequent updates.
-The characters in the VR version look TRAGIC, you really have to be blind not to see how badly they are made, if I created the game I would simply be ashamed...
-Grind in this game is no different from games like Big Brother, Glamour and other similar games, but how is this game worse than them? in those games, the player knows that he will get new events, scenes, etc., here there is absolutely nothing... each subsequent update adds more senseless tasks and scenes in the second world (VR)
-In the ordinary world you do everything blindly because you never know if there will be a new event/scene or not
-New updates focus only on the second world (VR), if this continues, maybe in a few years we will get an event in the normal world



Summary: The game is not worth your time, there are some animations here to grab your attention, but this game is just a grind that won't even reward you for your time spent here, the developer of the game does not even hide the fact that he does not listen to people, first he writes that he will improve something, change something, but every time he doesn't does absolutely nothing, just read reviews or comments in the discussion, most players are not happy with the current state of the game, waste of your time, another game with wasted potential by a developer who just wants to milk money...

Not sure what's up with the negative reviews, fantastic game that's pumping out great content updates and really sexy scenes. Finally found a game I will support in the future! There may be no walkthrough, but the phone guide clearly tells players how to trigger certain scenes with the affinity/corruption/lust requirements and the gallery helps to keep track of events you miss or don't miss. 5/5 for me on this one. Plus both characters are hot af

Pretty mediocre game.

Renders are nice, animations are decent, girls are hot. Minigames aren't too bad. Grind isn't too bad.

There is no story or buildup at all. You acquire enough points and all the sudden you can have sex with your 'sister' and 'mom'.

Dialogue is pretty shit and game needs a translator and writer to help the dev.

You can probably get like 1 or 2 nuts out of this game and that's about it, just because the sister is hot. Worth pirating, not worth supporting.

Gave it a 5 because its one of the best games out there in F95. The game is easy to play, scenes and graphics are some of the best here. In terms of story its not the most intriguing but its a nice concept.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. Good renders, cute characters, a nice amount of "game" but very little plot or motivation left me bored and looking for a full save after a couple hours (I didn't find one ).

Very interesting concept. You play as a dude who lives with his mom and sister. You start off by saving money to purchase a VR Set, allowing you to access and play the VR game. You then need to purchase one for your mom and sister who will start playing by themselves and will be able to meet you in the VR game.

There are scenes in meatspace and in the vr game both. Renders quality is really good , models are amazing and the scenes are very well made. There are some animations as well, so that's a huge plus in my book. Makes it a lot more enjoyable.

There isn't much going on story wise though. If you are looking for an engaging storyline this isn't your game. The writing is good enough but the character development is almost inexistant (besides the slow corrpution of s and m) It's as I said, you save to purchase the VR set then you'll spend most of your time there, with a few interactions with your roomates for some scenes. There's close to nothing to be done outside of your home and the vr game. However, if you in for the fap only and all you need is the bare minimums then yes the game can be plainly enjoyed.

This VN seems to be updated on a regular basis with a decent amount of scenes everytime. For now, I rate the game 4/5 but I can see myself changing it to 5/5 after a few more updates. It can potentially turn to be an excellent VN, maybe with more meaningful interactions and things to do in the real world; although I perfectly get that the main focus of the VN is it's VR world and that we can't expect regular content for both parts of the game.

But yeah, all in all an enjoyable experience for me and I recommend to try it. Good luck with the game!

Edit: It's a sandbox where you need to grind for money. I recommend playing with cheats.

Some of the more devious content is solid and I hope the dev doesn't tone it back, and the renders aren't bad at all by any means, but the game suffers from grindy game play issues that come from the parts of it that are sandboxish as well as being badly in need of a good in game walkthrough given issues like some things can be out of order and the like. There's a 3 or 4 star game but it's gated behind poor game play. Also no idea why google analytics were buried in this game but wow that's a red flag for me. Why is an adult game including that at all.

An interesting idea executed poorly. (Reviewed v2.0).

The game opens as a standard slice-of-life sandbox game. You balance your time between earning money, increasing stats and gaining relationship points with love interests through repeatable events. Eventually you earn enough money to buy a VR headset and enter the fantasy game within the game into which you can also draw your real-life love interests and... well we will get to that soon.

The first thing you will notice about Double Perception are the mini-games. There are a lot of them and as you can expect from mini-game, they aren't very good, ranging from "press the correct key quickly enough", through "move your mouse left and then right", to "spam the space bar as fast as you can." The best I can say about them is that most of them you only have to do once, as you have the option to re-use your previous score on subsequent attempts.

The next thing I noticed was the story. There isn't one. None of the characters have any personality, inner life, or motivation. NPCs just exist in the world to be clicked on, and the only goal of the MC seems to be to get laid and play video games, which, I mean, relateable, but it's not much to hang a game on.

The sexual content is passable. The love interests are well rendered and well posed, and some scenes are done well, but many are just a single animation or the bare minimum number of renders necessary to count as a scene. It's also never quite explained how you can throat-fuck your sleeping housemates without waking them up.

So I did the grind, gained the points, saved the money and finally bought the VR headset that would get me into the game-within-a-game that is Double Perception's main gimmick. Surely here the story would open up and I would finally understand what I was trying to do.

Except instead it turned out to be another collection of average content gated by lackluster minigames, so I quit and wrote a two-star review instead.

The only thing saving this game is the renders and models. If you are looking for a quick fap,this is not it. The amount of grind you need to do is a chore. I swear some devs are really sadistic,and i also dislike some of the minigames like the crossword type puzzles.

If the dev can make this game non-sandboxy with less clicking and stuff, it could get 4star potentially but the dev rather make a game first and sex stuffs second .

This game is shaping up to be one of the greats. You get to corrupt and rape your mother and sister and then... you can do the same thing but in a VR world. You should definitely open your mind(and your heart) and give it a try!

Review of 1.8

This game has a lot of potential. It has great character design and the difference between reality and game world is fun to explore.
But you have to remember that the game is still at the beginning of development. So some of the game mechanics are still a little dull.

The scenes with the characters are sill very short so there is still room for improvement there.
I know people dont like the grinding part of Porn games but i still believe the battles should be more challenging. you can just choose whatever spell and win every battle. i was never even close to losing a fight and i didnt even read what the spells i use do.
Money should not be so easy to get. I was swimming in money about 6 days in the game. After buying the vrs for everybody and the ragdolls money is pretty useless.

But i like the different minigames in the real world and in the game. And i love the renders.

Maybe its just me but i just like a little challange in these games. and right now i can sum up the game and obstacles to progress part of this game as to easy.

Review of 1.8

This game has two layers that are well integrated. House layer is the good old "landlady+roommate" sandbox situation. VR game layer is a turn based RPG with loot, crafting and quests. The interesting part is that your landlady and roommate are also playing the VR game, and there are special VR scenes with your avatar.

There are a few different minigames but they are one time only and quite easy. There is a bit of grinding but you can use the ingame cheats(press J) to bypass it. There is an option to skip time and loading times aren't noticeable.

Models and animations are great and you can notice the dev is improving.

There is a respectable amount of content and there is great potential for even more, as the game takes place both in a fantasy setting and a contemporary setting.

There aren't many fetish scenes yet, except drug rapes and sleep assaults.

The game sadly lacks a gallery and walkthrough.

Well since it's only early access but at least i can see the potential to be the best game it's only early stage of the dev still got lotta contents to do it

Bad Points & Suggestions
- Better plot, story, and story-telling needed.
- We have a character named Jennie and her ability is shapeshifting! That's great potential and she can copy characters we know as well by just touching them! But there is one slight problem... Her scenes are not animated and they are nothing more than couple of pictures... That's how you kill great potential I guess... And while her shapeshifting ability is cool her real face and body look very unattractive, which is quite disappointing.
- Most of sex scenes only have one animation and position/angle which makes things pretty boring. And even some characters like Jenny don't even have that 1 boring animation... They just have pictures for sex scenes... We need more positions/angles with animations. And better-looking ones as well. For example, V1.9 has a sex scene with Innkeeper, which is literally one of the hottest characters in DOA but... Her sex scene animation is pretty bad, it's not even worth mentioning at all...
- Our game has RNG and it sucks! I can't even believe I have to spend a literaly hour just finding Jennie 12 times in DOA! Do you know why? Because there is a possibility she doesn't appear in the game! And if you are unlucky you are going to spend an hour and nearly a hundred times of try! I'm sick of opening DOA and seeing she is not online and doing the same thing over and over again and again! Wow... What a great concept!
- For getting scenes and relationship points you need to make some grind and especially with RNG mechanics it's annoying AF... And not just relationship points, nearly everything is based on the grind and after some point, it just feels like you are doing nothing more than grind and that's just annoying.
- Having walkthrough or in-game tips could be amazing. We have some event lists and it's kind of helpful but if you didn't look at their Patreon there is no link on this site so it's a big possibility you don't even know the existence of that list at all like my first 2 hours of gameplay... If DEV thinks he/she can't make a better job with game progress then he/she can make this game VN instead of blind walk sandbox and it would fix all problems.
- HUD/UI looks cheap and kind of bad, changing something better could be amazing.
- Guardian's content and their look kind of disappointed. Aside from their content being just pictures and just one animation, after all, that upgrade their faces are not attractive enough either. More animated lewd content and better face improvements are needed.
- With v2.0 we lost save compability for old saves and if you are not new player now you need start from begining again and make all that grind over and over again with annoying RNG mechanics... That's just... Great...

For The End
I don't know why but DEV tries his best for ruining this game's potential... He needs to start fixing bad points instead of creating new ones with every update or this game never going to shine... My rate was 3 stars before update 1.8 and I was hoping DEV fix games problems but no... Instead, he added more... Now I'm gonna change my review to 1 star and gonna hope he will improve and fix the game problems with time...

2 games for the price of 1. No, but seriously, it's pretty much a dating sim/sandbox game plus a fantasy RPG game stacked on top of each other. Both are pretty well made and have quite a bit of content for a game that's only been out for 3 months. Highly recommend you check it out if you like dating sims and fantasy RPGs.

One small suggestion: put the VR headset in a different location or at least make it more obvious. It's a pretty small image and since the computer is essentially the same colour, it's very hard to tell it's even there. It took me awhile to find it even while knowing it was supposed to be in the bedroom.
