(Potential title art for Prey, albeit without the signature, the wording being elsewhere on the screen, etc)

Greetings, all! Name’s Vaerar, Founder of Love Potion Emporium. So, what’s all this about?

In short, an introduction. Prey sets the stage for the Dragonbound ‘verse by simply throwing the player in the deep end. You’re no hero, you’re practically powerless. You’re prey.

At its core, Prey’s events are told through Amaya, the survivor of a doomed trade caravan. After fleeing it for the unforgiving embrace of the unknown, she must safely navigate a dangerous forest in search of sanctuary, boasting multiple endings, inspired by ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books of old.

Supported by over a decade of worldbuilding, Prey seeks to pave the way for future projects and until I have a working alpha build this thread will provide development updates, illustrations and lore till the game itself requires a new thread.

As for the themes you can expect to see in the game, there will be a variety of monsters, rape, gore, plenty of horror, corruption, pregnancy and birth, among others. Amaya's journey will be bleak yet that's not to say she's always doomed. While there will be many outcomes in Prey, only one path is canon. That said, I have every intention to flesh out several doomed paths that will boast a certain level of complexity that will make them still feel meaningful to indulge.

Anyhoo! That's all for now. I'll return soon with further info!

Alright, so if you're familiar with Playdead's LIMBO, I've been enamoured with its art direction for years, so I wanted to create something in similar vein. Yes, that means it'll be largely monochromatic, focusing more on the emotion of each scene while imposing a mysterious, dreamlike air. Character art will still exist in it yet I remain divided on whether they, too, will be monochromatic, with the exception of details like eye colour, blood, etc, encouraging a more cohesive art direction.

As for other art, here are some early concepts for both Amaya and the tritagonist, Kyreth.

Nice, very distinct art style. Having EVERYTHING be monochromatic might become a bit dull, but that's just me. Keep it up!

Thanks! As for everything being monochromatic, that won't be the case. Without spoiling the story there are moments of full colour involving a specific character Amaya interacts with every now and then. Call it a reprieve from her bleak, dark world.
