Well, this was a fun little game to play. Dunno why it's rated as badly as it is, because, while it's not BBQ's best game evah or anything of that sort, it's still pretty good for a tiny game that was made as a random passion project by the dev. I think that the context of a work is always important to consider, and this thing had a short development cycle and only as much effort as a passion project could allow between bigger things.
The end result is a relatively short and funny scene collector about a random big boobed adventurer who gets thrown into a specific section of the modern world and gets into lewd trouble there. The game is riddled with references about Kabukicho taken from BBQ's own experiences, with exaggeration and humor thrown in here and there. Also, lots of references to lots and lots of food. I'd say that this game expresses BBQ's love of various foods as much as their reminiscence of this place in Japan that they visited and apparently lived in way back when.
The game is not serious at all, really easy and honestly gives you more information than it probably should have if it had been meant to be even vaguely serious, as it makes it really to ensure that "fighting" the Boss is a thing that happens only when you want and with the result that you want for it. The game doesn't have any actual fighting though. The adventurer sloot just has a mana value, and when interacting with hostile elements, the game checks how much mana she has (if any) and she either wins or loses based on that value. The Final Boss has a variable mana value of their own, but as long as she has even a bit more mana than the Boss then she wins and gets the normal/good ending. Where she ends up missing Japan's food more than anything else, but stuff like the brothel and other things are also mentioned lol. XD
There's very little in the way of corruption in the game, and what is there mostly falls under the umbrella of slutification, so to speak, and even that's pretty light. On top of that, the implication is that aside from getting fucked retarded a bunch of times, she's gonna be allowed to leave eventually anyway.
Beyond that, I'll say that unlocking the gallery is easy, you just need to get 100k Yen and pay for it if you want too, which doesn't take that long. By that same token, collecting most if not all of the events doesn't take that long either if you really want too. The game tends to reuse CGs quite a bit, but I've seen worse from games in this price range and at the end of the day, the writing and the outfit variety does its job to carry things decently enough. Not to mention that the quality is quite high if you like the art-styles involved.
That said... The translation is... Passable, I suppose. It's Saikey... The end result was never gonna be perfect. It can be tolerated as a product that one is meant to pay for, but it's not something I'd consider good. If it was a free fan translation, we'd be having a different conversation, but since this is meant to be a commercial product, then this level of work is barely acceptable. There's a number of iffy turns of phrase that have nothing to do with Japanese. A couple of bits of untranslated text here and there. At least one obvious pronoun issue that I kept running into over and over... Just. Ugh. I wish BBQ used someone else for their translation... even if there are worse options out there, there are also better ones too if your goal is to have your game on Steam.
All in all, a pretty fun and easy way to spend a few hours. An easy game to just turn your brain off and enjoy the silliness and the smut. I wish the translation was better, but, eh, that's something I often always wish for...
