I'm always surprised and glad for literally any Dune content but maybe someday there will come a time when Bijaz shows up and steals all the girls lol imagine

Hey everyone,

We’ve been putting this off for weeks because it hurts too much to say it out loud, but I think it’s time to be honest with you all: development on "Dune: Breeding A Dynasty" is officially abandoned.

This project started years ago as something we poured our heart and soul into. What was originally meant to be a tight, focused experience slowly ballooned out of control. Scope creep hit us hard, features kept getting added, ideas kept evolving, and before we knew it, the game we were building looked nothing like the one we set out to make. On top of that, progress with the writing team ground to almost zero. Deadlines slipped, communication faded, and despite everyone’s best intentions at the start, the core of what was supposed to make "DBaD" special, never came together the way any of us hoped.

I know a lot of you have been patiently waiting, checking in, leaving kind messages, and rooting for this game. Your support has genuinely meant the world to us, and it makes this decision even harder. I’m truly sorry to let you down after all this time.

Here are a few previews of some scene renders we worked on during that image rework. These were meant to be key moments in chapter one and some gameplay additions for chapter 2 part 2... but they'll never see the light of day now.

We aren't disappearing, I’ll still be around the community, and perhaps work on something new in the future. For now, though, I have to accept that "DBaD" isn’t going to happen.

Thank you all for believing in it while it lasted. We're gutted, but also grateful for every bit of encouragement you gave along the way.

Take care,

That's really sad news to end the year on
It's such a shame that this amazing game won't be continued…

I want to thank people who encouraged us, and I want to thank you all for playing. I'm really sad that you won't be able to see the harvesting game and other things we had. Alas, this is it, and I learned a great deal of game programming from lmno, which I'll always be grateful for. Thank you one and all.

Sometimes it just works out like that, I doubt many people know exactly what they're getting into when starting a project like this.
I respect that you had the decency to let people know instead of stringing them along for years to come like so many other projects do.

damn, though it makes sense that feature creep helped to fuck everything up. could it be an idea to recycle the work already done into small one-offs?

This sucks to hear. I really loved the game and was excited to see where it was going, both story and gameplay wise. This game was one of those games that actually made me feel something. And I can’t think of any game I’ve anticipated more than this one.

I was really looking forward to modding it down the line and messing around with it (something I would’ve done if I had the time/money to do so) especially adding the AI image system I was working on earlier on this year and seeing how far the framework could be pushed.

But if the project really is ending, I would love to see if I could take a shot at creating a Dune game of my own in the next year. Maybe something closer to David’s Dune game at first, since it was much simpler, but with procedural characters and then gradually growing it toward the scope you were aiming for.

Either way, it sucks that it had to end here but I hope you guys do well with anything you decide to work on in the future

One of the few games I've openly said I truly liked, and look what happened. Dunno if I should laugh or cry.
Even worse, dropped that sad news here, on my friggin bday as well.(im just late to respond)
I feel targeted. (just kidding, it is what it is)

Not that I'm a huge fan or Dune or anything, I just liked the feel of the game, and the writing was better than many other "VNs" I've played over the years.
But at least - to find the positives here - we were not several years and 50 updates into the 'story' so it's not like we got "too" invested. So...yay?

I'm sad now.
This VN tickled a place of me I didnt even knew I had (that sentence sounds effing weird lol)

I really do believe that this wasn't an easy decision, whenever it was made. It hit *me* hard, and I'm not even a fraction as attached, as you who worked on it and had plans/ideas for it.

Still, best of luck to you on your future projects, be it AVNs or just life in general.
