Wolf RPG - Completed - Dungeon Repeater: The Tale of Adventurer Vera [v1.34] [Tengsten]

I have been waiting years to play this ever since I saw rastafoo's old review of this game on his website. In that time, I've become much more versed in what makes a quality hrpg since I've played hundreds upon hundreds of them now, and I have to say that finally getting to play this was an enjoyable experience, the art is solid, Vera is a cute big tittied tomboy you want to see get toyed with, and the rpg mechanics are solid enough to support a fun bit of dungeon crawling. That being said, there are games that do what Dungeon Repeater does but considerably better with better and more H content. Lilitales probably being one of the best among them and it's a classic, but there are many other offerings by Kagura as well worth a play which I'm sure you've heard of already.

Bottom line: Game was good, and it did not disappoint after waiting for it for so long.

(Edit: Also patch to cut out gay content lmao. I like my traps also, but that's fucking based.)

An apex in mediocrity, dialled up to eleven in terms of awfulness by the jarring disconnect between gameplay and narrative.

The big issue here is that the game takes itself too seriously, tries to be too grim and tutorializes the player too much.
The game tries to put on an act that you're in danger, but you never are. For, you see, it falls prey to the same mechanic that most RPGM games do: attrition.

To recap: this is a timeloop game in which you pick Vera's - the protagonist's - class, equipment and program her skill usage to take on a series of one hundred fights of increasing difficulty, with each 10th fight being a boss.
You can also make Vera do lewd things in exchange for being able to unlock a particular class's skill for use with other classes. Except that it isn't necessary in the slightest.

Pick the Knight class, equip the first boss's trinket (passive HP regen) and set the programming to the following:
If(HP<=50%){Heal}Elseif(Mana==100%){Bash}Else{Strike}

And congratulations, you can now watch the game playing itself up to and including the floor 70 boss without a care in the world. I don't know what's beyond that, and frankly I'm too bored to find out.

If this game suddenly becomes good after floor 70 then take this for the ignorant and hateful criticism that it is, but for God's sake if a game takes this sodding long to get good then I am well within my rights to score it a 1/5 purely for the atrocious pacing and ludonarrative dissonance if nothing else.

Constructive criticism:

• the knight class is too powerful. Any class that can heal more damage than it takes while also dealing damage is by definition too powerful.
• Give us a reason to make Vera do something lewd. If 70% of the way through the thought "Well, that class's skill would have been nice here" has never crossed my mind then something is clearly wrong. Might I suggest you're going to need a bigger bait?
• The tone needs a serious rework. This almost feels Darksouls-esque with how many people we find dead or traumatized, then we walk into the dungeon and serve a healthy dosage of knuckle sandwiches to all the demons for several minutes at a time without the slightest worry or concern until we get the boss reward and it's back to dirty depressed people getting their lives ruined.
• This is far longer than it needs to be. It almost feels like it'd be better to cut the runtime in half - and the tutorials by 90%. Also set the additional increased speed setting to be unlocked from the start.

In summary, 1/5.

This game has been in circulation in English since 2019 or even sooner, so I've already reviewed it before (if you want a long form explanation of things). However, for the people who are completely new to h-games and are coming into this not wanting any spoilers, here's the scoop.

The story and writing is a 10/10, unforgettable for its writing alone.

Dungeon Repeater was created with the Wolf RPG Editor, with significant scripting to make it a unique experience. The game loop is addictive and hard to put down. Money is gained by selling equipment dropped by monsters. Players can craft new weapons and armor by combining this equipment. Which means you have to decide whether to sell that old sword, or try to upgrade it later on. The game is designed such that you can never get stuck. You got weapon upgrades, labyrinth upgrades, human fluids, and a special item that buffs your stats every time you explore the labyrinth. By the way, having sex in special outfits will increase your max level! The game is designed so that having sex will give you tons of rewards, and make the game a lot easier.

It takes 6 hours to complete a virgin playthrough. Tracking down all the scenes, achievements and other content takes easily 20 hours. This mixture of management simulation, strategy, and tactical gameplay is just wonderful.

There are 21 base CGs with countless variations over 63 scenes. Vera is a tomboyish girl next door with tons of pose art. The island is dominated by male adventurers, and she is the only girl. Everyone is lusting for her body!

The soundtrack has 105 songs in total. They make use of very unusual instruments! Techno synth music with a bass guitar is just fine, but then the next track uses bongos and an accordion! The variation is great.

There are 21 base CGs with countless variations over 63 scenes. The primary fetishes are corruption and interspecies sex. This game allows you to get deflowered in a ton of different ways! Was your first time with a zombie? Maybe it was in public in front of a crowd? In my playthrough, Vera lost her virginity to a Minotaur!

Sex stats are tracked in the player home and allow you to review how experienced Vera has become. All sex scenes can be replayed from the player home once you unlock them. Alternatively, you can pay gold in-game to unlock them.

Dungeon Repeater is the best hentai RPG I’ve ever played. The gameplay is complex and engaging. The story has tons of twists and turns. The music is unique and enjoyable. And of course, losing your virginity to zombies makes this an instant classic. Absolute 10/10

I am absolutely in love with this game, here are some reasons why:
- The game basically does all the work for you. You only have to preset some strategy that Vera will follow and if it's not going well you can hit "return home" and start again. There is 0 frustration involved since with the right strategy u can usually clear most dungeons very effectively
- I mean the protagonist is hot what can I say
- clothes are directly related to your class, which changes your skill set. If you like one variation of ur clothes more than the other but still want to have the skills of the other class, u can set them as free skills for some cost which is also a nice addition.
- Many many scenes and it's not hard to get them

I could talk very much about what parts of the game I like but I believe that this should give a rough idea of how the developer actually thought about how to create a nice game (if u like that type of game ofc).
