IDK if I'm just overly pessimistic, but this sounds abandoned to me. shame too, because I don't really care about the 3d animations they do.

God, I'd hate this being thrown down the gutter. There's care put into this with the character design and trying to build a story. Shame it only has like, what, 4 scenes? But I digress.
How is this game On Hold?
I know the dev said he will put this on hiatus, but it has been more than a year since then. There are other games on indefinite hiatus, said by their devs, and still get the abandoned tag.

Apparently, they are working on a new title at this point. Which is pretty typical for these kinds of games. Abandon one project and move on to another. The new title will be a 3D stealth action game by the looks of it.
