Don't worry, I'm not offended. Just curious why you think it's a slop.
I haven't played 2D games from this developer but I watched some of the gameplays. If I'm not mistaken, the developer is a single individual and if you factor that in, the quality for both 2D and 3D games are quite okay. Maybe you don't prefer 3D games in general or you are comparing it with 3D games from bigger studios or have multiple people working on it.
The only complaint I have for this game is the janky camera movement because it's harder to get away from the monsters with those camera positioning (I tried to clear the game without using any items). Everything else is okay imo.
Games using AI slops are much, much worse.
