Overview:
"Edges of Adulthood" is a story about a student named Sam who enrolls in Academy X in pursuit of a successful future. However, he does this not out of personal ambition, but in hopes of resolving his main problem - paying off his family's financial debt. Inner conflict tears at him as he struggles between "the obligation to repay his family" and "building his own life."
Adding to this, a war breaks out in a neighboring country. Although his country is not directly involved in the conflict, its leadership prepares for possible invasion while covertly helping the defending neighbor.

Oh man, I can't say what I think about this... game? With this the level of writing has reached such low levels that even the core of planet Earth is not low enough to hold such a level of baseness.

And I could go on and on. But there is no need to keep torturing the kind reader who is still interested in playing “this”. If you are one of those who like to play games for the writing, the plot, etc. run away from this. If you are one of those who like to play games like this for other reasons... please let me know if you have found any. Because I haven't. Among other things because I deleted it after spending a couple of minutes hitting the space key.

Overview that says nothing meaningful whatsoever about the plot, characters, or setting. Could replaces entire thing with "guy lives life, things happen" and lose zero information.

Apparently there's a civil war or something happening? That seems kinda major, is that a big aspect of the story? If so why the heck wouldn't the overview mention "guy lives life while a war rages around him"? (And if it isn't why waste a preview screenshot on it?)

Why do devs do this?

some developers like mystery, they want players to play their game to see what content the game offers. they want to make you wonder.

think of it like solving a puzzle.

But the puzzle should be an element of the game itself, not an exercise you have to go through to figure out if there's even anything in the game that interests you. The overview should be where the dev entices the player to want to find out more about the game; noninformative boilerplate just doesn't do that.
