i hope the next update they do is when your scout gets impregnant by monster you don't lose them and doesn't reset your preggers.
Ya I am going to introduce an item called SACRED SALTS that lets you recover a scout. Its gonna be super rare.

how many areas are in the game right now
Dark forest - Rosedew Meadow - Bright Forest - Open Plains... Rosedew has the only cave atm, and the only safe zone, but most zones will have a cave.

Now. Regarding the EFFORTPOST of PotatoManBill, which I have read in full.
I agree with your XP review. Genetic XP is very difficult to get. All of the bonuses are supposed to be purchasable once because the supply options are about to get BIGGLY expanded as the game continues.

Here are the changes to SUPPLY coming for the midmonth:
ADDED: Massively expanded the SUPPLY mechanic:
  • Cost 3 Battle Points: Gardeville Training. All player monster attacks do +3 damage.
  • Cost 3 Battle Points: Medic. Potions are all more effective.
  • Cost 5 Battle Points: Doctor. Ether are more effective, and heal some HP.
  • Cost 5 Battle Points: Scout Training. All player attacks do 5 bonus damage.
  • Cost 1 Item Points: Evolution Stone 2: 1 free evolution stone
  • Cost 1 Item Points: Fruit 2: 1 free fruit
  • Cost 3 Item Points: Lucky Looter: Find bonus potions, Find bonus apples
  • Cost 3 Item Points: Ammo Stocks: 1 free evolution stone
  • Cost 5 Item Points: Treasure Seeker: Find Bonus Ether, Find bonus bread
  • Cost 1 Genetic Points: Eggo-Mom: 1 free monster egg with good genetics
  • Cost 3 Genetic Points: Eggo-Mom 2: 1 free monster egg with exceptional genetics
  • Cost 3 Genetic Points: Monster Friend: Average loot when releasing a monster
  • Cost 5 Genetic Points: Emancipator: Decent loot when releasing a monster
  • Cost 1 Survival Points: Repellent: Repel lasts longer
  • Cost 1 Sacred Salt: Gain 1 Sacred Salt crystal.
  • Cost 3 Survival Points: Day After Day: gain a little survival and item exp each day
  • Cost 3 Survival Points: Master Blaster: Repel lasts even longer
  • Cost 5 Survival Points: Year after year: Gain a little battle and genetic exp surviving each day

Any suggestions, or concerns? I see people using the SURVIVE
Also, You can access STABLE from anywhere but only take monsters out of the stable or deposit them, while inside a safe zone like the base. This is so you can watch the porn and breeding while out on adventure.

The game is good but it seems that it doesin't save after I come back.
It always just restarts to a new run when I try entering.

MID AUGUST UPDATE

Although I had hoped to get Kitsuna out for this update, I got sidetracked by preparing for the monster vote for the two, upcoming spooky monthly monster votes. The supply system is now expanded.

ADDED: Massively expanded the SUPPLY mechanic:

Cost 3 Battle Points: Gardeville Training. All player monster attacks do +3 damage.
Cost 3 Battle Points: Medic. Potions are all more effective.
Cost 5 Battle Points: Doctor. Ether are more effective, and heal some HP.
Cost 5 Battle Points: Scout Training. All player attacks do 5 bonus damage.
Cost 1 Item Points: Evolution Stone 2: 1 free evolution stone
Cost 1 Item Points: Fruit 2: 1 free fruit
Cost 3 Item Points: Lucky Looter: Find bonus potions, Find bonus apples
Cost 3 Item Points: Ammo Stocks: 1 free evolution stone
Cost 5 Item Points: Treasure Seeker: Find Bonus Ether, Find bonus bread
Cost 1 Genetic Points: Eggo-Mom: 1 free monster egg with good genetics
Cost 3 Genetic Points: Eggo-Mom 2: 1 free monster egg with exceptional genetics
Cost 3 Genetic Points: Monster Friend: Average loot when releasing a monster
Cost 5 Genetic Points: Emancipator: Decent loot when releasing a monster
Cost 1 Survival Points: Repellent: Repel lasts longer
Cost 1 Sacred Salt: Gain 1 Sacred Salt crystal.
Cost 3 Survival Points: Day After Day: gain a little survival and item exp each day
Cost 3 Survival Points: Master Blaster: Repel lasts even longer
Cost 5 Survival Points: Year after year: Gain a little battle and genetic exp surviving each day

There is now a full screen toggle.
Bitter herbs are much more common.

ALTER: You can now access the stable from anywhere. This allows you to keep breeding your lost scouts and watching the XXX. HOWEVER. You cannot put monsters IN the stable or take them out if you aren’t in a friendly area, AKA; the BASE. Basically, no releasing or party switching outside the base. You can breed to your heart's content though.

ALTER: Randomized Eggs (you currently purchase them from supply) can now hatch into any of the unevolved monsters in the game up to #49 Cluffy. Last time I touched this code the eggs could only hatch up to #29 Grig. There are new types of randomized eggs, previously you could only get an egg with good genetics, now the ones you purchase in supply can come with exceptional genetics. These are called GREAT eggs, there's also code now for an IDEAL egg with perfect genetics, but this is going to be a quest reward in future.

ALTER: Eggs now give you 5GXP when they are conceived. They already gave 5 GXP when they are birthed, and 5 GXP when hatched. So an increase on GXP by EGGING, by about 50%. Again, BUG monsters can load up a woman since they oviposit, so BUGs are goat for GXP farming.

SO! Lots of added progression stuff, and alterations to the game, I am now refocusing on some of the stuff I enjoy most for a bit; monsters and mapping. GODOT just updated, and I am completely scrapping the Dark Forest as it is in order to create a new and improved Dark forest that will be tight, with grassy pathways, a lot more insect webbing, and a lot more mushrooms. Look for that, and Kitsuna, in the upcoming update!

Love the general vibes of the game, but MY GODDESS, why the controls are so atrocious? It all over the keyboard, despite needing standart RPG maker arrows, enter and 0. Stables screen just menu after menu without integrity whatsoever, camp menu just confusing and nothing is happening here it seems, dont see any interactions and cant properly use items because of weird controls. Even in combat need to scroll at right thru couple of skills for some reason, just to get to seduce or run options, even if it just empty spaces and there is no skills. And i need to suddenly use my mouse it specific menus for some reason. This is just feels so bad, i think game need focusing in mouse only (preferable) or in keyboard, not in between. Small resolution is also not helping in general, but i think it hard to implement anyway and too much to ask at this moment.
I have zero intentions sounds like a jerk, again, really cool vibes and premise so far, but man, please give as ability to change controls at least, to actually play you game.

Proceeds to sound like a jerk. :HideThePain:

The controls really aren't all that different from other games of this genre at all. Just because you're not used to navigating menus using wasd/arrow keys doesn't mean they are "atrocious".

The stable menu is very straight forward and concise. You go through the defeated scouts, pick a mon and then begin the breeding.

As for the camp menu its all the same. Press the number of the monster you want to feed, pick an item, repeat and go to sleep.

Even in combat need to scroll at right thru couple of skills for some reason, just to get to seduce or run options, even if it just empty spaces and there is no skills.

Try playing Pokemon, you'll see it's the same. Again, youre just not used to navigating menus without mouse.
The empty spaces are empty because this is not a full release. You are playing a work in progress which is subject to changes, and those empty spaces are spots for more options in further releases.

So apparently, saying game is nice and describing problems what dosnt let me enjoy it, makes be jerk? Allright then.

I have zero problems with playing without mouse tho. In most jrpgs its just feels fluid, and there is not, thats really it.
And fully aware its wip, skills are missing, something isnt working and so on, thats why players feedback really important now, so dev can change things before too late. Or not, not my business to be honest, just voiced my opinion.

Finally done reading the comments, is there any way to change the controls to something that makes sense?

Eg: A toggle in the options to set it to "Normal" RPG controls.

Never played a game that uses R and F as accept and cancel before, fighting my brain here R = Reload F = Interact.....

and yes I saw this reply,

" This is planned for some point in the future. I intentionally designed the game to be playable with your left hand having easy access to the keys it needs..."

I think most people are also just used to C/X/Z as the RPG maker controls.

I have seem to acquired the Psychic and Ghost Evo Stone for the Supply upgrade
LOL, randomized, get fucked. I am not reverting it, we will have some ghost types soon, and the second (dev mandated undemocratic) psychic type is likely gonna be done and released this coming monthly update with Kitsuna. Take this sneak peek at a WIP monster you cant evolve into yet as compensation.

Seems like the control layout whining feedback is reaching a pitch, I will slot it into high priority. I assume most people just want to remap the accept / back.cancel buttons. I am uninterested in making the entire game mouse navigable, if I was gonna do that it would have had to be something I did from the start. WASD.ARROW keys are fine for nav.

That said we are close approaching the point where we will have at least three monster of each TYPE. After that I will slow down random monster drops and rely more on democracy before the roster gets too bloated, since I might want to do repasses or add complexity to what monsters are at some point in the long future.

I will look into inventory not opening when camping.

I am glad no one is mentioning the new (faded out) option on the opening screen. Its a new long term goal the game is going to have, maybe a little easy going introduction to the mechanics in which the player earns 3 (scout) badges (to express the length of the campaign). I feel like teasing it like this is a more committed promise to getting it done someday then just yakking about maybe doing it.
