I appreciate your logic. I'm not the artist, but after reading the comments I think it is impossible to demonstrate whether or not it is AI. I know the work flow. I give a sample pose, then the artist gives a line drawing, I make comments, he give updated line drawings, when I like it we move to coloring and again more comments. It would be odd and unnecessary work for him to take the sample poses, put them into an AI generator, then trace the AI image rather than the sample pose. No, I don't think he's that out of pocket.
In my book it stinks of AI + overpaint. I might be wrong, but the more I saw OP's images the more I became convinced he's trying to pull the wool over our eyes. To be fair even if it is AI, OP is doing a fair bit more than the average grifter who is usually just trying to sell us some stable diffusion prompts with the most generic ass plot chipiti can churn out, but I don't think this is 100% photoshop like they claim. Doubly convinced after I tried the game and had a look at the sprites.
Is there some AI on the backgrounds? Maybe, I don't care about the backgrounds, but even that gets granular changes from time to time. Is there AI assistance with shading? Maybe, I don't know how photoshop tools work. I'm not the artist.
As far as sprites are concerned, you are totally right. So far we have only used standard in-engine generated sprites. I figured people would rather more images than 100s of hand crafted sprites. Maybe I'm wrong. We are starting to do some sprite customization with Asprite but we will see. The one area of sprites we need to work on is for the minoan (our word for minotaur) sprites. I'm not sure when we will get to them though.
If you are worried about me being a grifter, just wait and see. I appreciate you saying it looks like there is a little more effort than the typical grifter. This is my first attempt. I haven't even set up a Patreon yet. We have a couple more Chapters mostly ready to release, but we are testing the process so we can ensure consistency. But if as things progress, if you don't like the game or the art, you probably shouldn't donate since that would just send me the wrong message.
