Both the original and current versions work for me. Lutris with DXVK and Proton GE 9.21. I haven't done anything special with the prefix, just latest wine mono. Latest version of the game is really hard to play on desktop though, very VR focused.

I have no idea how to play in VR. Been like, trying to learn the game for hours. I cant even figure out how to hand in the 'blobs' for the first quest. Some tutorial or control scheme layout will be super useful.
The unlocked 'gallery' is really cool though. I really like the physics, and the presence of a 'sex button'. It's weirdly more immersive than VR experiences like VAM

I agree, it isn't very clear on what to do. It's all around the vacuum tool that you use to suck in blobs. Once you have the blobs in your inventory, you use the same vacuum to turn in the items on the 4 openings on the left side of the hub.
I get to "research automatic ore extraction", which needs me to make a furnace to make iron ingots, and the furnace costs iron ingots to make? The fuck am i supposed to do?
It's been a long time since I last played, but I think you'll need to juggle your ingots in the beginning by disassembling some buildings.
Not sure if it's possible in this game, but you might be able to hand-craft some ingots too.
How do I get ore to go from the drill to the conveyer belt to a furnace? So far I can just place these things but I can't make them actually connect. What am I missing?
Some factory games use a specialized block for that. This is one of those games. It's some kind of short-range teleporter, I think.
I placed one of those but so far as I could tell nothing was actually happening. Also, I don't know how to tell the 2 teleporters which end is which, it says one is supposed to be orange but there's only a blue one. Also, I don't know how to assign a blue to an orange. At a certain point, the tutorial just stopped, unhelpful as it was.

It's here, but does it work without VR device? I don't have one, so my advice might as well be based on playing Factorio.
It's intended for VR devices, but this version (and possibly some previous ones) has an 'experimental desktop mode' for non-VR users.

Use the gun on your right hand side, swap to build mode using A, then target the output port (the one that shows an arrow coming out the machine), it should glow blue. Press trigger to click it, a conveyor belt ghost should appear, use joystick to rotate the end of the belt and then target the input of the furnace and press trigger again. You can also place them midair to make longer belts in case the turn radius is too sharp.

Considering the bug about the Somnithreader, it seems to function as a Bioextractor, because you can assign the 'Euphoria Essence' recipe to that as well. Happens, i suppose xD. Hope the dev fixes the bug soon.
