I played the game for a bit and really liked it. There is however some stuff that really had me grind my teeth.

Defense pretty much rules supreme. Several fights took ages because of added up defense buffs and the shield spell, with me unable to break defense or the shield before it got recast, every damn round.

The chance to add equipment to enemies is too damn high. If your hitters get arm binders in turn 1, you can pretty much withdraw from the fight right there. Might be that I am missing the option to shake bindings off.

You should get an option to redo your picks for a new colony. I missclicked and got stuck with some random nonfighter, which I only noticed in the first fight. By then I was stuck with the dead weight, which might the long fights take even longer.

And for what it is worth, I'd really like to see some better loot in dungeons, though the resources you can loot really help out. Retreating from the bossfight still gave me the rewards in the end, which I think is not intended.

Yep balancing, especially the shield spell and throwables aren't there yet. Throwable equipment will get reworked eventually, though I'm currently focused on the overworld gameplay.

When you start the game, you can decide to make a custom party, including gene choices.

Though I should probably prevent stuff like attuned on soldiers for the normal random start.

If you have a paladin in your party, you can pretty much break through anything as long as the paladin gets enough rounds of prayer.
The alternative solution is to fire at vulnerable magic-users in the back, so that they can't maintain the shields on the front lines.

At the moment I'm finding the gameplay loop pretty tedious and grindy. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong?

Capturing/breeding girls with the appropriate stats, outfitting them to do their job, saving up mana to class change them into an appropriate role, and then updating all of their gear as new research unlocks is way too micromanage-y and fiddly.

Same issue with the town building. No matter how carefully everything is laid out to meet my town's needs, as soon as a new town tier unlocks I need to break everything down and rebuild it around the new building unlocks.

Having to do it all over again from the start every time you switch islands also isn't endearing me to the in-game systems.

Is the key to having fun in the game just saying 'fuck it', ignoring everything, and just bulldozing dungeons while the city rots?

First, yes, the game is rather grindy. The game is in active development, so its balance is far from perfect. And judging by their previous game, we can expect it to be grindy even in later incarnations.

Second, some of this will change in the later versions. They promise that in later versions islands will share research, so you don't have to start all the way from the start.

Third, both in real life and in this game, it is fine to leave some of the outdated architecture be. You only need to upgrade the weak points of your resource production, for example. It is fine to leave one town for commoners and make a different town for nobles.

Am I the only one that feel this game less and less of 'adult' game?
Ero dungeon at first feel like modded Darkest Dungeon, but then added battlefuck with monster, then boss, then robot, 'adult' gears, even the NPC getting sexier, mechanics of M & S that affect character building, character customization that included boob and a lot more subtle 'adult' theme that make it 'adult' game on its own.

I kinda like this game, it has potential. but as 'adult' game, sex picture when breeding sure, sexy gear sure. Just dont feel enough for 'adult' game. I know every dev has their own vision, and maybe he want to make more 'normal' game. For me, to feel more 'adult' game, I want to suggest more things (free to ignore): Entertainment district related building, Enemy that capture your monster(some battlefuck will be nice) then bring it to their camp then u can rescue them, strong enemy faction that only use slaves pet etc, and more character customization really.

It feels like a game first, porn second. That's quite rare on here tbh.

I wouldn't mind more porn stuff beyond lesbian pngs, and bondage, but it's not bad. Feels nice to play a game that isn't just porn with hurdles. (ie a fun game to play in general)

In the public version there's whole colony tiers without any additional buildings, so scope-wise expanding on buildings seems to be on the agenda. Bringing back enemy capture is something the dev is thinking about. Won't be easy to balance, though, and having to get back your fighters wasn't ever really the reason why you avoided kidnapping in EroDungeon, but them getting forced into cursed classes, halting progression in their actual class.

When it comes to lewdness -- big picture, there's not enough misfortune and predicaments (The series has always been primarily about kink and not sex). Part of that is due to principal design, not development status: In EroDungeons, cowgirls were a cursed class of humans, now it's... cowgirls. Maybe make the milk mage class uncursed for cowgirls, and maybe ramgirls, but cursed for any other it is even remotely applicable to (that is, any mammal).

There's quite a bit of design tension, here: Hunters is moving towards anno-style colony management, population-focused, economy-focussed, while much of Dungeons is about individual girls. It's absolutely possible to combine the two e.g. FreeCities did it quite well but that requires automation. There's certainly classes already in game which would make brilliant dominatrixes (e.g. latex mage, hypnomancer) with individual strengths and weaknesses (but all of them with the capability to boost compliance in an assigned girl but OTOH have service demands, both in infrastructure and from the girls (productivity)), and more than just one training building. Side note there should probably be a faction loyalty system in addition to raw compliance.

Dungeons also required you to constantly re-do your roster, while it's all too easy in Hunters to build up a squad that can take on anything (that's not necessarily a bad thing) but then have no incentive to actually get to know and get invested in the particularities of the rest of the girls. It becomes a game of min/maxing each girl for a particular role, once set, you can forget about them and often duplicate the relevant stats easily (if you have a pair of perfect genes waitresses, you have an infinite number of them, and latex and piercing manufacturing are all to easy to automate). In Hunters there's currently no incentive to pull girls out of production to fill a combat role, and the only reason my fighters occasionally end up in production is because their tiers (and general lack of allure genes) make them dominate at research.

Then, there's the dungeon experience itself: In Dungeons, you ended up picking up curses along the way. Yep, might end your run because your party becomes defunct and you need to forfeit (or risk kidnapping), but can also offer great boons -- or just replace a curse with a less annoying one. In Dungeons there were more reasons to enter a dungeon than to beat it.

My main gripes with the current state of colony management is the static frontline because defence is ludicrously cheap and effective: Just plop down outposts, done, you can switch to x9000 speed without anything happening, which then breaks a lot of other systems compared to Dungeons because there you couldn't just sit still and collect resources and fighting power. There's other bits and pieces but they seem to be largely addressed by the switch to more anno-style mechanics, though one final note there should be more mechanics to play tall instead of wide, things like upgrading pdoduction buildings / bonus building to have more worker slots. With all the stat maxing through genes and tiers the game wants you to play tall, but the colony buildings themselves lend themselves more to playing wide. Also, having a wide colony makes the girls anonymous, same old population vs. individual focus tension.

Yea last time I played is ver3.3 and the trend updates seems focus on gameplay loop and more monstergirls, this is why I bring up 'adult' stuff, it is just barely there, and I didnt see big focus on lewd stuffs in a while to justify it is 'adult' game. I bring up Ero Dungeon, bcos despite the similar to SFW game Darkest Dungeon, Ero Dungeon stands on its on merit in NSFW stuffs it provides.

I understand this game is moving towards colony management, this is why one of my suggestion is Entertainment District building related. As an 'adult' game enjoyer, I just feel this game need more 'adult' stuff.

Yea I can see your gripes about the gameplay for recent updates, I also frustrated sometimes with the balance here and there. Since it's still in development, I just learn to check every few weeks, and play every few months after big updates and feel 'stable' enough.

"SFW game Darkest Dungeon"

For a certain value of 'SFW'. Great as it is, and cool as it is, you know?

Madodev I was thinking and so far over island gameplay is more fun to be honest than fighting which is a bit annoying. Like you do repetitive battles. Have you thought about simple gambit/programming system that would allow turn combat to autobattling mechanic. There is not much reason to have more than one combat team, but now outposts would clean tiles once every x seconds instead. You put team there and it works. You can watch battle by walking into icon if you wish once it happens, maybe even give orders if you choose.

Or forego completely combat for favor of city building and make most special effects and abilities being either way to fight tribes influence or provide services to your cities. Like petrification or hypnosis or bondage or training. Making outpost spread influence around workplaces and changing its flavor, which makes one or another category of worshipers to god, or races happy not so happy. though drawing some effects is not fun.

Though I still feel those two off the combat feels a bit out of place and really hinders pacing in unnecessary way. Think of instead of building city you constantly have to push back and fight maybe finish dungeons. But mostly city runs on its own, you need nothing from freed tiles but space which makes outposts best solution or cleansing island from dungeons. It is like combat is separate from whole more superior city building game. And even if combat would become better than other half of game would look and feel out of place. So maybe Finding better reasons to do combat. Is also way to go. I mean training is cool, but have you thought something like dungeon city mechanic. That certain ingredients only built around dungeons, so you need to build infrastructure around them. And dungeons more like resource.you Mostly tasked to clear with main party, there are ways to go into regular raid for resources and maybe special curios in future if you add them. But amount of special resources depend on how many depth level you cleared for your procurement team and danger level(negative). And danger level affects overrun chances and productivity of procurement combat girls. Danger level is effected by infrastructure you built around. (Most dungeon resources used either to supply dungeoneering equipment/equipment, pleasure your got and worshipers of god) or to satisfy higher racial needs. (like luxuries in newer anno game not necessary to boost level of colony, but gives bonuses)

Not puts combat at its right place, completely but at least makes it something fun to do, do venturing for curios. Or to clean new level for which you need to prepare. But I would think way to tie up combat to the city building mechanic in some way. I feel this what would make game better.

You brought up Ero Dungeon, so you should realize that the fact this game gets lesbian sex with strapons still images is already an improvement.

i don't understand how people can compare this to Darkest Dungeon
this game has literally nothing to do with Darkest Dungeon anymore

the previous game
was more Darkest Dungeon then this
but still too easy to compare whit Darkest Dungeon

Darkest Dungeon is a rng hell masterpiece
even on easy difficulty your elite team could be wiped out by a random encounter
and on darkest difficulty 12 deaths are enough to end the game and deleted your save file
Darkest Dungeon 2 is a joke compared to the original... it's unique

if you want Darkest Dungeon with porn try this mode https://f95zone.to/threads/lustiest-lair-a-darkest-dungeon-overhaul.155000/

Weird, I could swear Lumber Camp and Manufactory buildings already had art in the game the last time I played.
Yes, the art is getting redone completely to shift to pixel art and be consistent. I kept a couple non-pixelart ones where I want the final result to look as the current one.

Ok, 0.4 here, question, how to start active research. Have girls to mate, have temple, have tech screen, nothing clickable, nothing like button start research or something. Clicking on tabs, lit or not, goes nowhere. What I'm doing wrong?
