Game is good, my only complaints would be to have the ability to speed up fighting animations since easy battles take longer than they should because of that. Also games pretty laggy, optimizing it especially in battle scenes would improve the experience a lot

Starting at 0.4.3 you can change the combat speed.

This game can be run on joiplay
It mostly works, except for the zooming, since JoiPlay doesn't allow for rebinding mouse controls.
Starting at 0.4.2 you can rebind the zooming in the game's keybinds though.

Some menu thoughts, considering a lot of my play time is spent managing in there. I think the work behind quota based work orders is wonderful and loadouts just need to catch up at this point to lower the amount of micromanagement as tech level increases.
  • the Biggest boon to management would be a control to attempt to mass re-equip like type units. This would be helpful for worker loadout changes as well as to verify the available gear has been applied. I'd love to be able to click something like this as I see production is meeting demand rather than waiting until all items are completed to begin changing loadouts. Partial loadout failures (i.e. race specific items in loadout) IMO would be quite fine to occur. In this, I'd suggest a "Re-apply Loadouts" button, and consider someone any unit manually set to a loadout to be part of that loadout set. Or instead a "Re/Apply loadout to group".
  • Updating a saved loadout update is not intuitive, I generally have success naming it the existing loadout despite the error color it shows. The text change implies clicking enter on a blank box will update it, and then creates a blank loadout instead. I usually end up just deleting and remaking the loadout each time which I'm sure isn't desired.

Itch has been slow and having problems all week, apparently a bot problem. Doesn't seem to be censorship related.

Old saves are generally compatible, the game will warn you if they aren't.

What's the advantage of some of the specialized buildings over their generic counterpart, e.g. the Cowgirl Barn over the Pasture? They cost the same, have the same yields, and don't seem to have any other advantages (but of course, have the downside of being specialized). For others, such as the Ramgirl Pasture, the advantage clearly lies in size, but the Barn is 3x3, too. So why would you ever build that over normal Pastures?

You can no longer build Pastures, they currently only exist for save compatibility.

Something seems broken with Entangled, killed an empowered Alraune, and the debuff it leaves never goes away, no matter how much Struggle is used. It seems that the Struggle doesn't remove it, even when there's just 1 entangled, when they use it, it just changes who has the debuff.

That's correct. Reducing tokens didn't work for rank-based tokens. It will be fixed in 0.4.5.
Just received a bug report about it earlier this week, might have been yours.

The game doesn't start on my device. I need to use "--rendering-method gl_compatibility" to start the game but it's very slow. Is there anyway to start with dx9 - dx12 through "--rendering-method" or "--rendering-drivers"? I think the game is trying to use Vulcan by default (which I don't have) and OpenGL is just too slow. I have "--disable-vsync" and the "Disable Particles" (in-game settings) check box enabled.

The non gl_compatibility version uses the latest Godot renderer which requires Vulcan so there isn't any way around that without using the compatibility GLES3 renderer which is much slower in combat due to the way the puppets are drawn (lots of layers). The disable particles won't help, it only really matters for the web version since that one doesn't do shader caching.

If your hardware supports dx12 it should also support vulkan, they're both APIs for the same generation of cards. Vulkan performance not being stellar on Windows because GPU manufacturers just don't care much is a thing I hear quite often, but not that vulkan isn't available at all. You sure there's not some option in your driver, or something you can download from the manufacturer, that provides support?

How big are the differences between this and the previous game? (I ask about gameplay.)
