VN - Ren'Py - Eternum [v0.8.0] [Caribdis]

My fucking god. In playing this game I was again reminded to never judge a game by it's version number. I've had so much fun playing and I haven't even reached the end of 0.3 yet.

• The visuals are fantastic, some of the games that use illusion engines have been good but this one takes the cake.
• The way the scenes are set by the music is so immersive, it takes a skilled hand to evoke feelings in the way this game has.
• To top it all of the dialogue feels so real(porn bs aside) in turn making the characters and world feel real.
• And by far the best part, the hilarity of the comedy made me not just slightly exhale through my nose but actually laugh out loud.

Overall this game is the gold standard and it's no surprise that it's the first game to appear when searching with the " Weighted Rating" filter.

Amazing story and animations. Not a big fan of horror aspects but it was well implemented into the story and genuinely added to it. And this is at v0.3 too, I can't wait to see what unfolds in later updates.

Such a good game, I cannot believe how much work this would have taken to implement. Not only is the game's story wonderful, it also has some cool animations developed into it. I love all the characters and everything they have done so far. I personally like how they focused more on the character development more rather than sex scenes.

I try to keep the five-star reviews down so that it counts, when a game gets one. This game though, this game absolutely deserves it.
I waited until we are now three updates in, just to be sure, even though the dev's first game was already good enough to know that this wasn't just a fluke of quality at the beginning.

It's a great SF story, it has a whole array of hot ladies, it has humour, it has lots of diverse settings.
It's a game I would gladly play without any sex scenes, because the story and writing are just good enough for that.
Not to say that the porn isn't good as well. MC eating out Nancy in the Roman baths in this latest episode was sweet as fuck.

I guess you do have to like anime, to appreciate some of the characters and tropes here, but it definitely is fun even if you don't.

I can't really think of anything negative to say about the game.
The updates are large and satisfying, the game looks good, the girls look great. Animations are sparse but fine.
Really, this is just a joy to play. I can imagine someone liking it not that much, if they aren't into honey select models, anime, Fantasy and/or SF, but even then the quality of it all should make it clear that this is a well-crafted, well-made game.

Absolutely love the feel of this VN. Great story writing with a range of diverse and appealing characters. Definitely one of the best stories out there which grips you, beautifully balanced by appealing girls who you want the main character to get to know more. Can't wait to see the story progress further.

Genuinely super impressed.

I didn't have the highest of hopes when starting the game. Expected a pretty generic harem game with a fantasy touch. It isn't.

Good renders, well-done animation, surprisingly intriguing plot-line on a well-paced slow burn, good world-building, likeable characters, but most of all some of the best writing I have seen in an adult game.

Genuinely made me smile and/or laugh at multiple parts. One reveal with the character Nova made me think "that is actually super badass" and made me forget I was playing an adult game and not a AAA JRPG or reading/watching a popular manga/anime.

In one scene, when the game tried to be creepy/scary (easily skippable/fast-forwardable for those of us out there who don't like frights), it was genuinely well-done and I was very impressed with the game quality. The mechanic used in that scene could easily be translated into a chapter of a new Resident Evil or Silent Hill game and be viewed as one of the iconic scenes of said game.

The core girls in the harem are all very likeable and I actually look forward to all of their stories, unlike most games where at least one girl ends up being fast-forward bait. Even the "best friend" character brings genuine laughs and is a likeable guy that you end up rooting for to be happy. A later joke with him had me genuinely laughing, and I'm really looking forward to the payoff.

One other note--I've gone long on this review as I'm genuinely super impressed--the overall game concept (the Eternum game) is honestly genius. It allows for a genuinely interesting real world plot-line, but also gives the developer(s) the opportunity to use any setting/genre they're interested in. Already, we've seen classical Greek/Roman, noir, fantasy, magic schools, cyberpunk, etc. Super creative idea that allows for more creativity in the future.

Will very much be looking forward to future updates and chapters of the game (the v0.3 tag means that the game currently has three full chapters, which are surprisingly long, wrap up their mini-stories well, and ends on a satisfying cliffhanger). The game dev's vision is one I'm genuinely interested in following, although I certainly wouldn't complain if we got more Penelope Instagram/modeling/photo-shoot scenes!

Very interesting writing, really looking forward for the complete version. Despite being an adult game, the story telling is intriguing and the author is able to use it to enrich each character's traits and personalities.
During the play through, this is much like reading a web novel, but with a lot more illustration.

Great Designs ,high quality writing . there is not too much sex scene but thats better ,that means game is not rushing ,relantionships becomes much better like this quality wont decrease it will increase instead .nothing can beat well written relationships and sex scenes.

One of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. It has excellent quality, stunning artwork, a very well-written and interesting tale, and a perfect soundtrack. It's highly enjoyable to play while also soothing and comfortable in general. Several times during this emotional rollercoaster, I've temporarily forgotten about the sexy part of the game. After you start playing it, you won't be able to quit.

The amount of detail that went into the renders is incredible....

My favorites ones are the ones in Ogygia(props for the animations in this one) and Ion(in that order)

And the whole concept of visiting different worlds all the time, allowing to keep everything fresh with new sceneries and different type of ambiances, is also very well used ! Usually it'd be Quality over Quantity but in this case it appears to have both.

Every models are beautiful, characters have all their own traits, the story is interesting...

H-scenes are also well done

I hope it does not to end too early. And I hope the antagonists don't get defeated too easily and it keeps being interesting.

Well, there're things coming together that make the characters not work. First, the models are kind of ugly, faces as well as bodies. Next, some sexual situations are loose and generic, seen in a thousand other games before. There's not really a sense of conquest through meaningful moments.
Some overblown humor tries to make you fall in love with them, it's not enough.

When the VR software "Eternum" starts, anything can happen through every setting, that's enthralling to think about, so much so that I'd love to see more VR ideas in other VNs. Come to think of it, what would really rescue this game for me would be if you deleted 99% of all text and built the images more around that. Right now, it seems the only bearable way.

it has amazing quality , beautiful designs , very well written and exciting story , it got pretty good music to it , its very entertaining to play at the same time relaxing and comforting vibe in general . u pretty much cant stop playing it after starting it .

One of the greatest games of this genre! It have all that it needed: really intresting story and dialogues, great 3D models and animations, and some nice humour. It is a very rare case, when the game of this type is not only fap and all. I am really fascinated by it! Keep it up!

Caribdis delivers yet again. Without any exaggeration, he is the best dev on this site. It is remarkable how his skills developed compared to his just as good previous game. There are no devs who are able to tell stories the way he does in RenPy VN format. No stupid mini games, no grinding, just pure content. Yes, he has free roaming parts in this game as well, but they are masterfully done as well. Storytelling, humor, fleshed out characters and eyecandy visuals and animations.
This game has no equal. (maybe his previous title)
My only "complaint" would be, that he still uses Honey Select, which I usually abhor. Honey select models are very hard to individualize AND they lack the range of expressable emotions other models have. Imagine this game or the previous one done with models used in high quality AAA AVNs...Still it says much about this game, that despite having HS models, it delivers on this level.

Oh my, how can I start? Am I right?

First of all, I'd really want to say I like Caribdis. I can see the significant improvement since your latest game. And I also can see the love you put on both of your games and some elements of my review on this game are based on my view (I didn't submit an review yet) on your latest game.

Nonetheless, let start this review, shall we?

Renders (5): I've played good games with shit renders and shit games with good renders, so I simply don't give so many fucks about this topic. Altough, I like the noticeable improvement since your latest game.

Dialogue (5): Funny, I'd say. Like, dunno, that's some silly good humor, It's kinda rare for me to caught myself giggling while playing an VN, and you really know how to play with the break of expectation.

Playability (3): I mean, when I insert the name of the MC, the least I hope is that I can change who he is, his personality, his actions, and I feel this game didn't gave me that chance. The dialogue options are very clear about what you must choose to get the happy ending. There's just no opportunity for being the asshole in any situation and bad attitudes are punished. unless your goal is to lose your time. This just doesn't happen IRL and you won't get shit by being the good sheep the whole time. The MC isn't even neutral, in 100% of the game, he need to be straight up 09's John Cena, unless, he won't get pusspuss... and speaking about it...

Sexual content (2): That's the number of main characters you engage in sexual intercourse in 13 hours of gameplay. And when I mean sexual intercourse, I mean fucking foreplay. (lol) I get it, the game is on early stages, but seriously, 13 HOURS of gameplay and 4 sex scenes while half of it contain one of 8 main female characters and they're all foreplays? C'mon, I know you can do better than that, bud. (Did we normalize porn games without porn?)

Story (5): Pretty interesting, I feel it contains a lot of potential for late stages of the game and It's really different from almost everything I saw until now. Good bloody job!

Ambiance and SFX (5): Tried to play it while high on cannabis and that was an experience I think everyone in the Earth should do before dying. Literally felt myself inside the game. Nonetheless, both are amazing.

Characters (5):
-MC's straight up copypasted from your latest game, like it both.
-Female main characters are, dunno, good? I like the fact they both have completely different personalities, their visual are pretty good, btw.
-For the antagonists I'll give another chance on the next patches, I think they're pretty unexplored until 3.0.

I think that's it. Pretty solid and beautiful VN, both story, render and dialogues are good. But, It just can't be called an porn game. It doesn't have porn, and it can't be played like a game (unless you are the protagonist himself lol), it's like I'm watching a pretty long and interesting movie. Dialogue options are rare and the good ones are obvious (ex: would you rather pet your dog or kill your whole family with a chainsaw?), so they're completely unnecessary.


Altough, as I said before, I know this game have a lot of potential!

Great AVN. Interesting story. Great art. Attractive LIs. Good use of sound effects. Good mix of humor and horror. The AVN can be completed in one or two playthroughs. So, I would not say that the AVN is overtly complicated, but it's a pretty good way to spend your time.

Amazing game with an epic sci-fi setting. Story is intriguing, there are definitely some small horror and mystery elements along with great fantasy battles and funny interactions between characters. Game offers many unexpected memorable moments and the characters with well written personalities. A must play!

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

This is a tour de force from Caribdis! Thus far (version 0.3) the story has been engaging, the dialogue well-crafted , the graphics very good and the characters charming!

After "Once in a Lifetime", I had high hopes and high expectations of "Eternum" and, so far, those hopes and expectations have been amply and ably met.

I delayed entering the world of "Eternum" until sufficient story-line had been developed quite deliberately and, in retrospect, am glad I did so. I am hooked but now have to wait for another quantum leap in the development of the story before re-entering the altered reality of this absorbing and addictive tale.

I am not a big fan of big ass and big tits which seem to dominate in the VN ecosphere. My own choice of partners has always been delicate, willowy girls with, to be vulgar, tiny firm asses and bee-sting tits and that runs to my taste in the fictional girls in VNs. Eternum girls are mostly much more endowed than I like, but this is not sufficient to deter me from giving a rating of Excellent ***** to "Eternum".

The VNs which last the test of time and will endure have story-lines that are not merely shallow vehicles for sexual gratification but which capture the imagination and suck the reader/viewer into a captivating fictional space. All the VNs I really enjoy have this quality and, while I clearly cannot speak for all tastes, I believe that this is true for the majority of participants in this zone. That seems to be validated by the high score "Eternum" continues to garner here.

I recommend this tale which has an ambitious reach with the hallmark qualities we have come to expact from the author; original and engaging story-line, delightful and sweet characters, gentle humour, charm, evolving intimacy.

Finally, given where we are, is the story and are the girls hot? A resounding YES.

Overall, a good game, but it has faltered with some of the updates.

Characters are average. Forced fetishes for characters that get really annoying or just bad; while some of them are written well, others are really bad.

Humor. Game is packed with it, and the jokes (most of them at least) get annoying fairly fast.

Story is average; nothing groundbreaking.

Overall, graphics are the best, rest is average.
