VN - Ren'Py - Eternum [v0.9.0] [Caribdis]

This is a five star game. I'm not rating this based on future potential but on what is currently offered, and it is already a five star game as of version 0.4.

If this game was abandoned right now, right as I'm typing this review, what is left would still be worth 4,5-5 stars. That's how good this game is.

The renders are quality Honey Select. It's not mind-blowing visual prowess but the girls are very attractive and the backgrounds are detailed and crisply rendered. There are animations for steamy scenes and they look good, but won't knock you off your feet.


What DOES have a good chance of knocking you off your feet is the writing of Eternum. See, what sets Caribdis apart from other erotic VN writers is that Caribdis is a master of the pen. They are not writing lewdness for the sake of lewdness, but rather they pull you into a great adventure and sprinkle romance and hotness over it.

Two things that help pull this off are the sound design of this VN and the fact that the women are all fleshed out characters with their own hopes, dreams, motivations, and lives.

Caribdis is the only writer I know who uses sounds and good music for maximum storytelling effect, to this extent. I'd like to mention more of the plot and gush further about the quality of the writing in this game, but I feel like everything you don't already know about the plot would only spoil the experience for you.

I will say three things in conclusion:

1: this VN is Sword Art Online if SOA was a novel.....but with way better characters and if that sounds too good to be true... play for yourself and be convinced, like I got convinced.

2: I hope Caribdis will not get burned out or hurt any other way. Better to take your time and finish in a healthier state than to be forced to abandon a great piece of entertainment like this

3: Yes, I subscribed to Caribdis after playing this. Do you want my money too? Write entertaining stories like this that can make me feel other things than plain old horndoggeryness

4: All the girls are bae but Nova is bae before all bae's

5: I can't count.

Feedback base on my perspective. Spoilers ahead.


Let's start with the world setup of Eternum. The story is intriguing, basically you go to an online world with anything is possible. But do you really believe that this is all a huge simulation and not real? Perhaps the real world is a simulation that has been preventing us from doing the impossible. You can clearly see that the physical strength, agility of the MC is changing in reality. That's when he activate some sort of power in eternum. And I do believe base on the hints that the MC has lost some of his memories from the past, Likely on eternum. He's brain has been altered by some sort of a program. You believe that what you see is reality, but can you determine what's fake or real? What if it's all different dimensions instead of the word "servers". this is just my theory.


Just a clarification. Other players discussion about dying on the game and you will die in real life is not technically true. The MC died on the arena and on the spaceship he can still come back, we just felt the pain. In Benjamin case he got excommunicated that's why he died in real life.
Instead of using the word "dying" use excommunicated to avoid confusion during discussion.


Moving on about the characters. The maidens their all different. They have their own personality. And all of them are special to me. I agree about the other players that it is hard to choose. But having multiple maidens is having a risks of hurting their feelings. I don't want to broke their hearts. But thank you dev. For making this a harem. My purpose is not on sexuality. I'm not thinking that I have to get them to be part of my harem so I can fuck them all. No I want to protect and love them and show them respect that they deserve. Once you care about the girls it is one valid reason that this is a great game.


About the MC. I want my character to improve. I already know he's a good person. but my only flaw is that he's a huge pervert. Not physically but mentally. Physically which is I meant groping the girls while their sleeping and having to engage a sleep sex without consent. Which is so overuse on adult games. But he's still thinking about all pervert stuff which is kind of redundant. Maybe he'll get better overtime. And I don't like that he treat Dalia special and end up calling her a slut. Come on have some respect. That doesn't mean she has no gag reflex and she's automatically a slut. She doesn't chew her food properly and she end up swallowing her food. If I'm on that position I'd be impressed and I will continue telling her how she's the best for not gagging while taking it all. I don't mind hardcore scenes as long as we get to choose the dialogue during those scenes. Or the girl tell us to use those words(Bad girl, slut etc.) during hardcore scenes.


The animation, visuals, songs, voiceovers and character design is top notch.


The game feels like ready player one, truman show, matrix and 1899. And of course the other references stuff. I really love the interstellar part with Annie.

the other day i was playing the Eternum, when it goes to Penelope's childhood, by watching the sense, suddenly i realized that everyone says you made a game, but i'd say you tell us a story, no, a life maybe, apparently each one who played the game could find a life tracks, found some meaning in the game, and out the game too, and i have to say that you made a correct values, maybe it can teach someone, that's what i didn't expect though a game, that's wonderful.

I have no clue why I didn't play this before. Guess I didn't find the pictures appealing enough. After playing I've changed my mind.. Graphics are better than I expected, but moreover the story and pretty much everything in this game is awesome. Would totally recommend.

This game is outstanding, its the best porn game I have played by far. The story is very interesting, funny, the renders and graphics are amazing. Caribds is doing a wonderful job and I would for sure play any other game that he publishes. Believe me, you wont regret playing this.

Amazing story. Spent most of my time in this story through the last 3 days. Each Characters are amazing. Background music, visuals are out of the world. Dialogues and situations are so much interesting. Required a little bit more real life incidents. Waiting for the next update

Eternum is simply an amazing game. Caribdis' accomplishments here are visually stunning and consistently engaging. The art pulls you in, and the story hooks you. This is at least as good as, if not better than, Once In A Lifetime (also by Caribdis). Eagerly waiting to see where Eternum goes, because the possibilities are ... endless.

Amazing graphics and 3d scenes and implementation, the cutest character designs, and an enthralling story all in one. I've played a fair amount of VNs and this is one of, if not the best. Truly 10/10!

This game is amazing. I never thought I would find writing this good in a porn game. The sex scenes are good too, but the writing is really what sells it. There are AAA games that are put to shame by the level of care and craft in this.

I rarely do a review.. but this I mean what a game it is.. sense of humour, background sound according toh situation faced by MC, way of narrating horror situation.. hats off to the efforts put in by the creator.. Thanks for such an amazing game..

This game is excellent! Nice sound track, voice overs, artwork and a gripping story. My only issue is I can't decide which girl I like more! Look forward to the updates and where the decisions made will take me!

Awesome Game, totally pulls you in and love all the subtle references. One of the best stories of the games i've played. Can't wait to get more of the story and hopefully some erotic action with the amazing characters.

I have to admit this game is huge. The universe is great, story is alright (from what i can remember after skipping 90% of dialogues since its VN lol). I'm not a fan of 3d models but the ones in Eternum are okay. Probably will play again on some future patch.

Great game, it has everything: a great plot that is genuinely interesting with plenty of funny moments, amazing character models, and the "plot" is done very well. Shaping up to be even better than Once In A Lifetime and that game was already a near masterpiece.

The first game in which I delve into each girl's story of my own free will.
It is apparent that I have similar taste with the author, and I must admit that this is the first time I come across a game so tailored to my expectations, created really beautiful and deep women in this game.
Apparently the story is wrapped in mysteries, but after playing the game it is clear who the main antagonist is, you can see our pack of female friends headed by us is stupid enough not to associate the samurai with a certain character, I do not want to spoil.

I got a little tired at times of the content of the online game itself, I would be lying if I didn't write that I clicked through part of the story inside the eternum without reading.
Nevertheless, it deserves 5 stars in my opinion.
I had a great time and broke down as I reached the end, I feel a slight emptiness, as if I lost something, I look forward to further stories with anticipation.

This game and the author's previous game are something exquisite for this genre. This isn't what I'm usually looking for, but the smart storytelling coupled with some original humor made me come back just to see what happens next.

The art style also had a significant improvement from Once in a lifetime so things are only looking up for Caribdis. Whatever sort of genres you're into, disregard them for once, this game deserves a run for your money.

God tier VN game, best story writing, animations, everything was just perfect, wish I wasn't broke I'd sub to the Patreon cause this dev deserves it. That cliffhanger, I feel is better than what Hollywood has put out in years.

I don't know where to start with this game. I have played quite a few Renpy games over the years and they can't even come close to competing with this game. Honestly though...I play these games mainly for the nudity and don't really focus on the story. I ended up giving this one a chance and boi am I glad i did. The comedy is fucking hilarious(seriously I don't even want to remember how many times i blurted out laughing with my dick in my hand) and the different references are top notch. The music is greatly tailored to the occasion and the story is exquisitely crafted. Its been a while since i've seen a masterpiece such as this. I fucking love everything about this game and i hope many more give it a chance.

Finding a game that is erotic, very well put together, isn't about instant gratification and tells an imaginative story with hilarious quips, situations and wit is extremely rare.
Eternum checks all these boxes and much more. The story is one that draws you in and leaves you wanting for more, between the worlds of MC's reality and Eternum, how MC isn't an all powerful God to begin with, that there is substance and thought put into the branching of this 'choose your own adventure' game, you find yourself watching for updates hoping to see the next one posted or play through a dozen times and never get tired of it. The characters are so well put together, their personalities and backgrounds have volume and consistency and the interactions are rather realistic... for an erotic visual novel. The renders and animations are expertly done, at least to my eyes... but then, I remember when the internet didn't exist and it took 3-7 days to create a simple polygon on the best computer a home could own. But, alas, back to the subject at hand. I give Eternum a 5/5. All the boxes check for an enthralling story and entertaining evening that I can easily find myself returning to for the replay. Caribdis has outdone themselves and I don't forsee that changing.
