Version 0.70 Changelog:I have not played this game for awhile. Now a lot of the female npc's are missing face portraits.
Example classmates, 1/3 have pictures not the rest.
I have tried changing the settings for portaits via Bathroom, but no luck. Am i missing something?
Problem solved. Thanks.Version 0.70 Changelog:

My guess is that their beauty score is less than 70. The portrait pictures all consist of pretty or attractive girls so they won't get a picture with a beauty score of less than 70. I had no desire to find pictures of unattractive girls for this feature.
The portrait picture option in the bathroom menu only changes how the pictures are displayed: Disabled, Background Image, or underneath their name (as described in the changelog). Hope this helps...
The game has been abandoned as far as I know unless a developer decides to work on it. Noobtrain and I are recent developers for Evil 2. Noobtrain was the last developer and did tech support for the game for a while after stopping development. He hasn't been seen for several several months now.any news
There is an option in the Computer Menu to start the events and stories in Evil 2. This feature was added for those who couldn't advance to the next step in the story. 98% of the time, it was due to players not meeting all the requirements for the story/event, yet they were sure that they did and so they were stuck.I had been playing it for a while, but I always got stuck with the quests, or rather the lack of a proper Quest log.
So , if i could vote for something , a Quest Log / Walkthrough would be Place 1 - 4 on my list
I've had the first part of this that is fixed by restarting QSP but not to second where it gets corrupt and requires a new install.Anyone else having issues with QSP running the game completely fine, then after a while all images, icons and clips break, which is solved by restarting QSP but not by just reloading the game back in it. When this happens enough times it seems to eventually corrupt somehow and straight up CTD every time it attempts to play a video file. I havent found any other fix than deleting the entire thing and redownloading/extracting things all over again, though my save file still seems to work.
I do have a gut feeling that these issues might be related to clicking too fast / spamming though?
I've never seen this and I've played the game far more than most. On a rare occasion I have to reboot my PC but that has only happened twice. I've never experienced files getting corrupted other than the files 'qspgui.cfg' and 'vlclog.log' having to be deleted (the file will get re-created on game start). It's never happened to me but other players have reported it. Rebooting did nothing for me, I tried that too. Will try deleting qspgui.cfg to see if that solves anything, it would make sense as it kinda looks like pointers breaking. But im just guessing, I dont get any errors or anything. It just tries to load a video, freezes and CTD when it gets that bad.I've never seen this and I've played the game far more than most. The only version of QSP you should use with Evil 2 is the version it came with. No other QSP player will work properly.Rebooting did nothing for me, I tried that too. I did try opening it in a different version of QSP when it was in that broken state, any version with support for video will crash on attempt to play it, but versions that ignore video will work completely fine apart from obviously not playing any video content. I havent gotten any of the first part of this with a non-video QSP either where all images and icons break.
The easiest way to recreate this that ive found, is to do some kind of spammable activity like use the laptop and work on a legal business or go to the boxing ring to practice over and over again (preferrebly at a fairly quick pace) until images and icons suddenly are replaced with placeholders. It seems to be very inconsistent to begin with, but as this starts to happen it seems to happen more frequently until it eventually goes into that state where it CTD every time it tries to play a video file. So whatever it is, it seems to be additive or somehow pile up.
I have not tried recreating it on several computers at this time.
I have no idea if reporting on this does anyone any good, but I appreciate the tip. Will try out!
That would be weird as the computer I ran this on has a 4090 and still runs win10. Just to clarify, I tested other QSP versions after it started breaking, I did not play it on that before. Maybe I have a memory leak or something, but opening other QSP games in their respective QSP instances have worked completely fine even when this game have been broken, and I have not experienced anything indicating a memory leak or similar in any other setting so far at least. So if that is the case, it would be logical to think something here is triggering it.The only version of QSP you should use with Evil 2 is the version it came with. No other QSP player will work properly.
I suspect that players having this issue are running out of VRAM (video card memory) but that is just an educated guess. The video player in the QSP engine isn't optimized well and it exaggerates any existing computer issues, weaknesses, or lack of resources. Closing the game and restarting it usually works. Sometimes a reboot is required. Rarely the 'qspgui.cfg' file has to be deleted so it can be recreated. I've never seen files other than the one mentioned get corrupted and I have hundreds of hours in the game.
I have heard of some players having issues with the game on Windows 11. The QSP code/engine is getting more outdated every year. I've had no issues with QSP on Windows 7 & 10.
What you said makes sense. It sounds like the 'vlclog.log' file gets corrupted somehow and when the QSP Player attempts to write to it (happens any time a video is played) it crashes with a fatal error. The only two game files that get edited in this game are 'vlclog.log' and 'qspgui.cfg'. So what you said makes sense as only this version of QSP uses the 'vlclog.log' log file. Having to delete the entire game and then it working again after a full removal and re-install points to one of these two files getting corrupted since other QSP versions worked fine for you during your testing. That would be weird as the computer I ran this on has a 4090 and still runs win10. When it eventually gets to that broken state, it will crash 100% of the time when trying to load a video file, regardless of how long the program has been open or how much it was used. Creating a save file at a screen with a video will essentially soft lock me out of the game as it would crash every time its started up. Creating a new save file will also crash the moment it gets to its first screen with a video. Im not very familiar with QSP and all this, but it doesnt sound like its a memory thing?
Oh well, it doesnt seem to be a common thing from what I gather. I can keep trying a bit and report on it if you want, but if it keeps doing this I might just leave it at that.

Were you able to complete the entire game and see all the stories and events?
vlclog.log can just be deleted, you don't need to back it up. It's just a temporary log file.Hi, thanks for getting back to me!
I did try a little bit after that but it died off a little bit for me since I kept seeing that same thing creeping up on me again, we can call it taking a break haha ^^ I dont feel like im done with it yet though, the whole growing an empire thing is suprisingly addictive once the ball really starts rolling.
This is very good to know though, I did keep the archived install files so I didnt have to come back and download again, but next time I play I will just make a backup of these two files as fresh as possible (vlclog.log is not included in the archive so im guessing this one has to be generated on first startup?) and see if just swapping in a fresh set of these two files can be a nice and quick solution when things start acting up, instead of having to deal with the entire 22gb thing. Or taking up 44gb if its not necessary for that matter.
This part is purely guessing so feel free to disregard, but I did try just deleting vlclog and letting it generate a new one, but I do feel like it still starts having issues again much faster than it would from a fresh install. But I cant say ive tried it many enough times to be sure thats the case or just a coincidence though.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but since this file is called vlclog.log, does that mean it uses VLC player? Could there be any interaction with my separately installed version of VLC? As in, QSP tries to reference .ini files in %appdata% and its a different version or something like that?
I feel personally invested in this now haha
Hello again,It's also a smart idea to increment you save games and save often. I've experienced a corrupted save file rarely throughout my playthroughs of the game. For example, I'll start with save game 100, then 101, 102, 103, etc. This way, if you do get a corrupted save game, you don't have to start over from the beginning. Sadly, a few players just kept saving over a single save game file during their entire playthrough and it got corrupted and they lost all their game progress (sad).
