How big is the steam adult games market anyways? It can't be more lucrative than Patreon, can it?

I think that typically, revenue from Steam is much much higher than the revenue from patrons channels.

So is it just me or is that in general new projects have very low excitement behind them. I know the easy answer is that people got burned too many times on games that never got finished but I don't believe that's the main cause. Because even I who don't particularly care about never games have been trying games I never would in past. Feels like the ''game'' part is missing in most of games, doesn't really matter in what engine is made you are lucky to get maybe two or three different endings and that's your ''game-play''. Also I feel the fetishes are just getting more vanilla and I believe people that play porn games would want them to be a little more hardcore, the story is basically copy in paste from most other games with different character names. I don't know it just feels like we already reached peak a few years ago and now we are just sliding down towards rock bottom.

If The Tyrant was good in your eyes, you should be pleased by most of the available games.
The gameplay is limited to pure grinding with really few indication. Half the events will appear before they make sense in the story. Some actions will block you even if they feel natural in your playthrough. And you can easily circle for in-game weeks without progressing on a story line, just because you never been at the right place at the right moment.
So, yeah, there's tons of lewd, the same small content repeated again and again without real variations, but it's not enough to make a gameplay, nor to make a game well done. But there's hardcore content with a false sense of investment coming from the player. So I guess that some people can find it more appealing than hardcore porn movies.

I never had a problem with progression in tyrant mostly because the characters tell you what you need to do to progress the story. I do think the choices of how you approach your relationship with the women is still better done than 99% of games out there. True if you want to skip all of text to get to renders you might go in circles.
