F95zone stats: 8000 games

You know the deal already. A bunch of stats and numbers. Data taken yesterday on 8000 games.

Fun facts:
- The site keeps adding 500 games every two month since the 6000 games. Following that tendency, the site should hit the 10k mark in early October, maybe even as early as September 30th.

- The 5 most used tags (in %) in the last 500 games were: Big Ass (2.47 %), Big Tits (1.89 %), Adventure (1.56 %), Animated (1.42 %) and Fantasy (1.15 %).
- Animated is the only new addition to this top 5 counting the last 500 games, the rest repeat. Only the first 3 tags remain in the top 5 counting the last 1000 games.

- The 5 least used tags (in %) in the last 500 games were: Incest (-0.25 %), RPG (-0.23 %), Lesbian (-0.20 %), Handjob (-0.182 %) and Voyeurism (-0.18 %).
- RPG is the only tag to keep a place in this bottom 5 counting the last 500 games, the rest are new. Incest was in the bottom 5 for 7000 games.

- The 5 tags that won most positions were: Humor and Platformer (+5), Multiple Penetration and Managment (+4) and Adventure and Sex Toys (+3).
- Platformer is the only tag keeping a position in this top 5, being 5th in the last thread and now 1st.
- Seriously, what's happening with Platformer? It won 3 places in the last thread and now is even first place? WTF?

- The 5 tags that lost most positions were: NTR and Point&Click (-3) and then it's a tie between Japanese Game, Censored, Parody, Footjob, Gay, Mind Control, Transformation, Side-scroller, Twins (-2).
- 11 tags in this "bottom 5" and 10 tags in the last "bottom 5". Only Mind Control and Side-scrolling keep a place in both bottoms 5.
- Funny enough, Gay is now in the botton 5 with -2 but it was the most used tag in the last 7500 games thread with +5.

- I recommend checking the +2000 numbers. There are some crazy things there.
- Necrophilia has been used 4 times in the last 500 games, which is crazy if we consider that the tag wasn't used since the site had 6500 games and from 6500 to 5500 was used only 6 times.
- For those who like to complain about "too much NTR", NTR is outside the top 60th and there is as much Gay content as NTR content.
- Big Tits is 5th with 3058 games, Titfuck is 24th with 1250 game. That means that the Titfuck tag is missing A LOT or there are 1808 game wasting a lot of its potential.
- Asset-animation and Asset-characters are still as game tags for some reason.
- Report more fun facts if you find them so I can pay attention to them in the next thread.

It's just my thoughts, so I can be wrong, but isn't it because, whatever they come for the story or for the porn, people expect their adult entertainment to be entertaining ?

While it wasn't a real commercial success, at least not enough to make them continue doing games that way, Sakura Dungeon is the Winged Cloud's production that the community prefer. And, while it don't goes really far on that side, Summertime Saga is one of the most successful game and it present more than just a story with some free roaming.
Not that Ren'py VN are annoying, but they aren't as entertaining than a platformer, or even a game like Sakura Dungeon, that offer you an exploration part that is real exploration, and combat that are both interesting and well balanced. This while nowadays RPG Maker games tend to have an exploration part limited to traveling, and combats that are either too easy or too difficult.

The forum should implement something that closes threads after, let's say, 60 days without activity.

Checking who is in Itch.io and others site would need people checking all games one by one. I just use the tools in Latest Update.

I see, thank you very much for those stats back then! If you're ever doing this at some point again, sam's latest alpha will provide even more output (and will maybe be live by then).

I planned to do it for 8500 and 9000 but for 8500 I was busy and for 9000 I was still busy and when I notived it was 9009 already, so I just said "fuck it" and let it go. Maybe for 9500 or 10k.

Eh, whenever you feel like it or have time, really. Thank you very much in any case! Engine stats may be the most interesting to the community due to how tags work, but this is just my opinion here.

P.S.: It may be worth looking into the "Others" tag for engines. It's a pretty significant proportion for a catch-all category.

a lot of the tags are very genre specific like this one (as is gay tag), so generalizations over all games tend to give 'weird' results. like how milf tag is kinda rare in general, but in certain extremely popular types of games close to 100%. similarly I NEVER see the apparently popular platformer tag because I don't play the genres they appear in.

nevertheless, it's always very interesting to see your numbers. even necroed.

Yeah, this is why the engine prefixes are the most relevant stats here.

I don't really trust tags all that much (obvious for ongoing stuff) and while the info Seis highlightled also is of great interest, some completed games tend to be patched all the time and some "ongoing" games actually are completely dead, though I couldn't say if there are enough to make a significant difference (compared to tags not being properly used/not working as intended).

I plan to do it every 1k games but I always miss the mark. Hopefully at 11k.

I guess it's been a while. Missed 2 years worth of data points so i added the dots on the lines to show the gap in data.



I still think it's worth finding out the major engines making up the catch-all "other" category and giving them their own prefix as it's always a significant proportion. Contrast that to WebGL which is a total of 7 games or Tads which has 8 but still get their own dedicated prefix.

Edit: Fixed the colors of the engines chart to match.
