Favorite method of mind control?

I prefer the magical/force approach. Just thinking about it / casting a spell / waving a hand (these are not the droids you're looking for) / that kind of stuff...
Telepathic mind control. Because it has greater possibilities--behavior modification,amplification of emotions, altering memories, beliefs and thoughts, etc. The MC could be a mutant, an alien or have gotten the abilities through experiments or an accident. Using drugs, machines or jewelry seems a bit clunky to me. Magic spells aren't that much different from telepathic or spoken mind control. Hypnosis also seems a bit clunky. Parasites or nanomachines aren't clunky, but control seems less refined to me. I like nuance in my mind control! ;p
I don't care as long as its actual mind control and not just body control

I mean, is the mechanical method of how it happens really that important? Doesn't it end up being a question of how it's implemented? Is it implemented as suggestion or mesmerism, where the victim is more or less fooled into thinking that they're coming up with the idea on their own? Is it out-and-out control, where the victim more or less ends up losing agency and just doing exactly what the controller wants them doing? In that case, is the victim aware of what's happening, or do they just sorta black out and then "wake up" with their mouth full of semen? Does the victim get to keep their identity, or is it simply overwritten so that they're more or less made into a puppet?
I imagine pretty much every approach has its fans, depending on what exactly they're looking for in their control porn.
For me, personally, I guess my answer pretty much contradicts the whole thrust of my post: it's only important to me insofar as it isn't mechanically implemented in a way that is so eye-rolling that it's distracting: like the cartoony swirly-eye hypnosis idea, that's just stupid.
I imagine pretty much every approach has its fans, depending on what exactly they're looking for in their control porn.

Heart pupils conveying the idea of pleasure or eroticism are okay. I'm complaining about the Western cartoon meme for the actual hypnosis happening, with the hypnotist nose-to-nose with the victim and the little pink spirals in both their eyes. It just feels... I dunno. Silly. Dunno what makes it feel more silly than heart pupils.
(FFX-style deformed pupils are kinda goofy, though. Slit pupils like a fox's or a cat's are fine, or even a goat's weird horizontal pupils thing. I've seen cross-shaped pupils and those were eye-rolling. I guess I'm really picky when it comes to eyes.)
I for one will be amazed at how to control someone without magic, contraptions, or even the use of drug, hypnotism, and blackmail. Something close to reality... Like, assessing the target's behaviour then psyche/bait her out to it. But if you're not much of a planner, then it's hypnotism like, whispering while she's half-asleep. Or screw around with her device in her sleep-learning sessions (shrugs)
Well, there is Neurolinguistic Programming, which is pseudoscience, but one tenet of the system, adopted by the pickup crowd, is that careful use of suggestive language including body language, plus mirroring the gestures of the target, can influence and persuade people to do things they wouldn't normally do. Not mind control but a kind of waking hypnosis. Ross Jeffries claims it works, so who knows?
Well, it'll require the mc to be a doctor with that approach so it wont fit for any story. How about this... Some average-but-smartass joe watched a yt video about street hypnotism... He saw some potential about the finger gun. Then he knew about his sister's mp3 player that she uses on her sleep-learning sessions and ding! He had an idea

I'm feeling a bit creative today, let's see here...
Approach:
When mc attempts to gain control over someone's mind, a battle with that person will be initiated inside their head.
A mental-world battlefield, so to speak.
It can be its own unique game, and have its own unique gameplay and rules and differ from person to person.
*The person is not aware that someone is trying to take over them, but will automatically attempt to boot the invader from their mind with every ounce of mental fortitude they can muster.
*Mentally stronger targets offer greater challenge.
*The mc is temporarily transported into the head of the person they wish to establish their control over.
*Mc's objective is to make it to the central control node and take it over, thus establishing permanent control.
Central node is to offer the biggest challenge.
*Other minor nodes exist, each offers its own unique challenge, each acts as a door that needs to be unlocked to get to the central control node.
*Unique very strong mentally individuals can exist who can even attempt to retaliate by invading mc's mind through their mental link, can make mc's invasion harder or even impossible for the mc to accomplish without some way to weaken that person's mental defenses first. (Making them drunk in the real world, perhaps? Mc becoming more capable at using their powers? Etc.)
*The invasion doesn't have to succeed in one go, mc can gradually weaken the person and slowly take over node after node over a long period of time, this will also be reflected in that person's behavior in real world. (They will become more agreeable than before to certain proposals and such, for example.)
*Mc can discover various secrets while invading someone's mind, he can then use those secrets in various ways against that person in the real world. (To weaken their mental defenses further in some way, to blackmail them, etc.)
Hm~ This will do to start you, use your own head for the rest.

I like scenarios where the target knows they're being affected. Maybe even agrees to it reluctantly. So the mind-control would affect the type of thing that's irrational and not really governed by the conscious mind, e.g. the sorts of people you're attracted to.
