1) less restrictions
2) developers get a higher cut
3) its just an overall better platform. The only thing subscribstar lacks that patreon does is it has easier process for setting up accounts and verification.

Combine that with the fact I caught them doing shady tax shit and got my money back in the most passive aggressive way possible (literally by refunding in 3-5 cents in over a hundred transactions) compounded that they can literally annihilate any project they don't like or support at any time makes it just bad. Patreon is too entwined with paypal and has a lot of the same BS clauses that they can and do utilize to close down projects, change projects, over tax benefits that are currently a legal grey area that shouldn't be legal, but again, isn't specifically written into law at this time.
