Note: This review is for the 0.1 release of the game. Issues mentioned in this review may not apply to later releases.
I'd like to start off by saying I really like the concept listed for this game despite the rest of what I say in this review. I often enjoy "real porn" games far more than most who browse the site probably do and I've played a fair few of them over the years. This game needs to have a good bit of course correction in this early build though if it wants to stand up to the assumed competition, at least in my opinion.
The whole broader "fighting princesses to win their hearts" idea just seems to be poorly implemented as of this release. What do I mean by this exactly? The game seems to act primarily as a porn delivery system with how it's set up right now, which doesn't feel good to "play". There's barely any writing to stitch anything together. There's no thematic coherency. It just seems to flow poorly compared to lots of other titles I've played and had nothing to grip me.
It becomes repetitive once you hit encounters, as once you've seen a series of images that's pretty much it, nothing is going to change unless you lose a fight. There's no real writing to speak of to keep an encounter feeling different depending on how it's approached, or choices which influence the encounter like other titles. A game like this desperately needs smaller details such as these to keep things from becoming a chore to click through.
I also noticed a lot of the game requiring extra clicks from the user, such as near the start with one of the black screens. This seems to be fairly easy to fix within Ren'Py though as I've only seen it in a few early releases of other games, so this is just a point to mention rather than something that lowers the overall score.
If the developer wants this to be nothing more than a porn delivery system rather than a more fleshed out execution of the proposed game concept, then my feedback below isn't needed and I suppose this game just isn't for me. I might check back on it some other time later in development, but for now I feel like I've seen enough to give a rating. However, below is a short list of things I'd want to improve were it something I was personally developing.
Spend a lot more time fleshing out characters. There's a reason other games have dozens of forum thread pages dedicated to talking about one specific character in the game. These are what attach people to a game like this and make them feel less generic.
Settle on a style. Yes, this sounds strange, but specific areas should be home to specific kinds of girls rather than anything the developer wanted to add at the time. (Elf cosplayers and a weak adventurer only in the forest, things like that.)
Bring coherency to the media used within the game. A game like this would greatly benefit from images of girls from more fantasy based shoots just to help the concept of the game be more realized. Failing this, make each zone dedicated to a type and branch into a more bizzaro style of fantasy with appropriate imagery and writing, like an office zone where you only find office "princesses".
I'm not sure about how to end this, so if the developer read this far, thanks for listening to my ramblings and I hope this helps influence further development in a positive direction.
