[For NTR players] What do you think of NTR devs who take more than a year of updates on their game for a penetration sex scene?

A common complaint amongst many players of NTR porn games that are in development is the lengthy wait for a penetrative sex scene with another person that's not with the MC to occur. 'Lengthy wait' can be subjective. Some see waiting 2-3 months is already 'too long'. Others think that 6 months is okay and anymore than that is too long. Then, there are those who think it's okay to wait a full year or longer than a year to finally have the first penetrative sex scene that's not with the MC in a porn game.

There are those who are always saying that such developers are 'taking advantage' of people's money. NTR enjoyers want to be able to have penetrative sex scenes, but some, if not many, developers would take months and up to more than a year in releasing updates for it to happen. Some NTR enjoyers would argue that it's 'important' to build up the story first before any penetrative sex with someone else besides the MC can happen. Then, there are those who would argue that it shouldn't take so long if it's just building up story; adding more plot text in one single update is not difficult at all. In other words, a developer can make an update with so much story-building that the next update can lead to penetrative sex instead of taking months of releasing small updates that only builds the story with no sex scenes at all.

I bring up 'penetrative sex' because as someone who browses a lot of NTR games on here, reading the comments and going on developers' Discord servers to read comments, it is a very common complaint when a developer is taking a long time to make a penetrative sex scene happen. The debating and arguing can go on and on for long discussions. Defenders of long-waiting would often say something similar along the lines of, "If you want to see sex scenes, go watch porn." or "Don't play this game if you can't wait."

What do you guys think?

You can say that ultimately it's also up not only to the genre but what you're making. Broadly speaking people play these games to get a "quick fix" so it's only expected that they want to get on with it as soon as possible. So having penetration already at their disposal it's better than having none. But then again, in the wide spectrum of fetishes out there, the one thing that aligns perfectly with your tastes could also be the one that a slow-burn etc.

You can never please everyone unfortunately, you could be making an excellent slowburn and get flack from the "full penetration NOW!!!" crowd anyways, viceversa, and so on and so forth. From a developer point of view there's also an issue with money: it's better to make a quick buck with an already complete game and hope that many people buy it/give you money before pirating it or try and get a steadier income with a subscription based model that hinges on you making as slow of a progress as possible so that they pay you to give them what they want (not saying that EVERY developer does this ofc, it's just a broader, cynical description of the phenomenon)? Think of it like drug dealers and drug addicts. (on a side-note, this also has to take in account the addicts' economic situation most of the time. Which probably is, generally speaking... not good, at the moment.)

Speaking more concretely, I like specific subsets of NTR, like "Handsome Bull", "FMC falling in love with the bull" etc. and generally speaking I HATE the fat/ugly bastard type, so my choice of "products" is, from what I see, drastically smaller than others'. If I want to play a game that caters exactly to my tastes I would prefer a complete one already and come to the "slowburn one" once it's finished. Maybe others enjoy all subgenres so they have many more options to enjoy.

TL;DR Some people are gonna bitch no matter what because they don't see the market as vast enough to cater to their tastes and fixate on a single product. But the rules the market plays by are never fair.

Masterminds.
They promise you a game, get you invested, then keep the game just for themselves, giving you a meta NTR experience, truly a grandmaster move!

This is not a problem of devs but a problem of playing games by tiny pieces. It takes time to set up a slowburn or whatever you wanna call it. The issue is that you only receive the setup and no payoff. This wouldn't be a problem if you played a completed game but unfortunately it's not possible to make games that way at the moment. :(

Honestly, this is a complex issue with no "correct" answer. How quickly things should escalate to penetration in a NTR story depends a lot on what kind of story is being told. If a dev is going for a story where a loving couple gets broken apart by an interloper, then the whole thing has to take time because no one sane is just gonna jump on dick or whatever without any build-up. Not unless they're already a nympho or something. That build-up often enough has to be more than just story, it has to have sexual build-up too. Blowjobs, handjobs, boobjobs, whatever... the exact nature of things will obviously depend on the story.

So for some types of games/VNs, yes, it's absolutely justified to take a long time until the first penetrative sex-scene happens, and when it does it's a big deal. Rushing it too much with time-skips and whatnot will make it feel cheap and boring. It won't feel like it's "earned", and it'll definitely feel annoying for the people that are into NTR for the corruption aspect. If things are too fast, it feels less like the person is being corrupted, and more like they're a slut or some-such from the get go. That can work for more comedic works like say, Acerola's games, but most peeps that do games on Patreon or whatnot aren't aiming for that sort of thing usually.

That said, there's another unfortunate angle to all this...

At the end of the day, the best way to monetize this sort of content is Patreon, and because of that, the safest way to do it is to abide their guidelines. This means that a lot of the easy ways to rush the penetrative act in a NTR work just can't be used. Even something as simple as being tipsy or drunk and making a mistake is against their ToS now, to say nothing of rape or prostitution under duress or anything that could be considered dubious-consent at best.

This means that if you want to monetize the making of a game through Patreon, you're gonna have to go through slow burn when doing NTR and you'll be limited in the kinds of stories that you can tell. Hell, you'll likely waste a lot of time just making sure that this or that bit of context doesn't violate their ToS or risks getting you reported and then banned from their platform.

Subscribestar used to be less strict, but they're just as harsh nowadays, just more poorly moderated, so you're less likely to be caught over there... but you're still taking a risk because of the payment processors.

So yeeaaaaaaah.

Leaving those sorts of things aside, there's also the matter that the creative process will vary in speed from dev to dev. What one dev can do in 2 weeks (NoTry is honestly insane with his work-speed...) another dev may need 2 months for. Making a game/VN isn't as simple as just writing the text. You need to then code the text in, the visuals, the sounds if supported... so on and so forth. That also takes time. 20k characters of text a month might not sound like it's difficult to type out... but it's a lot harder to put it into a game, and even without H-scenes specifically, you still need to code character portraits, backgrounds and all that jazz.

All that said, are there devs that are intentionally trying to milk their fanbases? Absolutely. That doesn't mean all of them are. It's up to everyone to find devs that work on things that they're willing to pay money for, and if they feel like they're not getting their money's worth, they can just stop. No need to stoop into sunk cost fallacies. Supporting devs like this is an investment, not a straightforward payment for content, and investments don't always pan out. One should never support a dev unless they're willing to lose out, because there's never a guarantee that things won't be soured in some form or another.

everyone is trying to make a living somehow. if you can make more money by keeping the updates of your games long enough and not losing players while doing so, why wouldn't you?

I think it should be milked because it's effective the end game scenario.

Once the lady gets the other bone then it becomes a deterioration of how much further she will go, and more deranged scenarios, and how quickly it turns into this weird swinger and voyeur situation.

I think a lot of devs avoid it just because the fun sort of runs out once that happens. Keep the fun going as long as possible, tease the people playing the game. You know what they want.

Once they get it then it probably becomes "make pregnancy options!" and such. :coffee:

It gets out of hand. I'd almost say the game is wrapped up at that point. Do your "this is how it ended" five years later scenes and start on the next game.
