I get being cautious, but from my experience on this site; I've downloaded 3 files that flagged as dangerous by windows defender. All of those were verified to be false positives. Rar files in particular are prone be false positive since there was a way to run stuff inside without opening the rar. Typically it's Wacatac.b!ml or some nonsense. If the antivirus says it's a virus, it means it's a virus -_- with your logic (TURN IT OFF) it's like giving the keys to your house to the first person you meet on the street.
As I said, I understand being cautious, but doom saying on the forum about how it's certainly a virus unless you have verified that is in fact a virus is not helpful.
Edit: This post seemed more hostile than I meant it to. I've been here a while and I'm honestly surprised I haven't gotten a virus downloading stuff from here. And who knows my PC could be riddled with trojans and keyloggers and I just don't know it. I'm usually a little wary of posts that aren't the official download posts, but from my experience this site has been far less dangerous than other sites similar to this.
