Ehhh... it's more of parody than anything.
It's an insane world filled with insane premise and nonsensical character, the very definition of parody to not take it too seriously.
The game actually really short if it take out the mindless object examination or random encounter, which is why the game made it obligatory, if you're not constantly hoarding each corner and bookshelf, the game guaranteed to overwhelm the player.
I just wish the game has better indication for examining object, like strewn cloth or empty shelve after examination, because sometime the game adhere with rule like, open box meant resources then break that rule in next map.
I'm soo glad that the dev take on a light hearted setting in his next work, because the writing here just doesn't click with me.
