So any reviews yet? Is it good or bad?
Bad if you were hoping for some actual scenes, good if you like combat and grinding?
So my quick review on the latest version is this.
I guess the developer is trying to do a chapter system now, but as was stated in a post by Grebbesh the first chapter/prologue is bugged, when you try to enter the hallway part of the treefort it shows an error. So if you want to play the Marceline and Bubblegum content you are going to have to play the earlier version of the game until that bug is fixed.
The new content, or the "King of the Hill" content, pretty much brings grinding to the game. Finn fights in the arena to get rewarded from Huntress Wizard, which is her taking of her clothes off very slowly, piece by piece as you win fights. You have to either fight monters in a cave or train on a training dummy to get EXP, which you then spend to upgrade your stats (I recommend you just keep going to the training dummy, as the EXP you get from it continues to increase dramatically the more you use it, the moment you go to the cave the EXP from the training dummy will reset). The combat itself is kind of messy. There needs to be a tell/hint of where your opponent will not gaurd and where they are preparing to hit you because at the moment it's literally rock-paper-scissors. So you are either constantly save scumming till you get the desired outcome or you are grinding like a madman on the training dummy until your stats reach god status and you don't have to worry about getting hit. I didn't bother using items though so I don't know how effective those are. The energy stat also does not make much sense to me, I assume it's energy, the game does a pretty poor job explaining it honestly.
Anyways, moving on from the combat I am sure you all want to know if there are any scenes worth all that grind? Nope, not really. You just get a close up of Huntress Wizard's clevage, her butt, and seeing her in her bra. The other new characters are just side characters, like Tree Trunks or Lumpy Space Princess.
The story is still pretty hard to understand too. I know English isn't the developer's strong point but I had thought he said he was getting some help with that.
