Hello, F95 Community! I'll provide a TL;DR summary at the bottom for those with ADHD because I understand that what I'm about to share can be a bit lengthy.
I've always had a strong desire to create my own game, but I've often come up with both good and bad excuses for why I couldn't pursue this dream. Now, I want to ask all of you whether my current idea is feasible or viable in any way.
What I'm envisioning is a game with the same art style as the Bruce Timm animated series, specifically the one used in Something Unlimited (I'll call it SU from now on). SU is one of my favorite games, and I absolutely adore the art, gameplay, and interactions it offers. Like any other game, it has its downsides, but I won't delve into those here because that's not my main question.
I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that my biggest personal obstacle is my lack of artistic talent. I can't draw to save my life; I can't even create a decent stick-figure. However, as AI-generated images have improved, this has become less of an obstacle and more of a moral dilemma. While an artist will always have the edge in creating a game because they can precisely convey their vision, AI-generated images can be a bit slower and sometimes produce deformities that require correction, leading to a repetitive cycle.
Another significant aspect is the coding and game engine, such as Unity, RPG MV, Unreal Engine, and Ren'py. Coding isn't easy by any means, but with the wealth of information available in the Digital Age/Information Age, many things can be easily searched for or asked about in countless forums. It's ultimately up to others to respond to questions, but generally, people are helpful. I have a good friend, Cursed Atelier, who has a game on this site called Voidbound. I've known him since 2017, and I'm extremely proud of his accomplishments. He started his journey in 2018/2019 (if I remember correctly). Looking back, I should have started learning about coding and drawing back then, but I had other projects in my life at that time. He confided in me about the challenges of his project, including art and coding, and I saw that it took a toll on him initially, but, as with all of us when starting a project, it eventually became more stable.
I'm just an average guy, so I haven't delved deeply into copyright law. How should we handle this situation, considering that we want to use the art style similar to SU and Timm's work? Is this something we should already be thinking about, and if so, how should we proceed?
Then there's storytelling and all the other elements that need to be included when making a game, but I feel like I might get sidetracked. Please feel free to comment if you think I missed something crucial.
Now, let's rewind to the beginning, and I want to share some generated images with you. I want to be completely upfront; these images may not look exactly how I wanted, but I must admit they look great in my opinion, especially for 30 minutes of "work." I haven't attempted full NSFW images, so I can't say for sure how they will turn out. Additionally, there's the question of whether creating "animated" scenes would even be plausible.
I don't think i hav' more to say.
TLDR;
>Wanna make a Game
>Sucks as an artist
>Wanna use AI Generated images.
>Morally okay?
>AI Generated image quality and opinion on the usage of it, acceptable or not?
