Not exactly troubleshooting needed, but wondering how to manage this...

So, let's say I've loaded up game "This game really sucks" into my large drive under D:\renpy_games\this game really sucks

And I play it a bit and quickly realize the title is accurate, yeah - it really sucks.

Simply enough, I delete it... Of course, in windows, there is another set of files on my C drive at %APPDATA%\Roaming\RenPy so I go in there and delete that too... now the game is completely gone...

My question is - is there either a simpler way to get it to delete thesecond set of files from my C drive? - or - to force that second set of files to save somewhere on my D drive instead?

My issue is that my C drive isn't very large, and of course that's where my OS is; recently I realized that drive was over 95% full!

So I've been moving as much as possible to my D and E drives which are both 1 TB. I realize that the entirety of my renpy related files on the C drive is quite small (just about 0.5 GB), but in hopes of not running out of room again any time soon I'm trying to reserve the C drive strictly for OS related items or the occaisional application that won't give me any option to instal elsewhere.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Switched to my alt account real quick :KappaPride: to let you know that you could it two ways:
1. Install and use Uninstalr, this will completely remove any file made by any software. It's safe as I personally use it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it can break something by misusing it. So touch with care. :Kappa:

2. You can use Symbolic Links (
) redirect AppData to another location.
I think the best way is the first though.

I think your biggest issue is having such a smol C:, even if it's "OS" only, that's way too smol. Bad install imho.

https://f95zone.to/threads/sandboxie-plus-quick-start.249815/ - conveniently keeps everything the game writes/modifies in the sandbox you can empty at any time (you can put it on a portable drive too), and as a bonus you're safer from viruses messing up your system files

or, for renpy specifically,

putting a directory called "Ren'Py Data" in the root of the drive you keep the games on will fool renpy into thinking it's on a portable drive and it will write there instead.

Thank you both!

I didn't realize the C drive was going to be so small when I ordered the computer - it really harped on >2 TB of hard drive space, and that there was an SSD. Turned out it was a 250GB SSD, and 2 SATA at 1TB each.

I like the total storage space, I hate the way it was setup and wish I'd realized sooner!

A suggestion, because it is common, you can set all downloads to your HDDs, Create shortcuts on your desktop so no files go into your C drive SSD, and personal documents, music, pictures etc, can be re-routed also using shortcuts to just keep files from getting into your C drive. Set your default install directories to the HDDs too. Unless it's a game that requires an SSD, in which case, that 250GB SSD will give you a hard time.

There's an even easier way than most are describing here, all you need is to rub a Magnet over your Hard Drive and any remaining files not currently installed will vanish because the data packets aren't being held by the storage device and thus will leave the device and cling to the magnet on a sub-atomic level.
