Haven't personally played it but School of Love?
Sensei overnight is basically using the exact same formula to a tee and is completely inspired by LiL so might be a good one as well.

Generally its hard to find games with LiL's perfect balance of characters that act like actual 3 dimensional human beings and fantasy.

Yeah, LiL is an absurd mix of well-made characters, really great sense of humor and great overall writing in this genre. I just love those type of stories, where you have like 80% normal good story and then 20% deep existential horror and weird shit or however else you can describe the "backside" of LiL. Plus I love self-aware games and LiL is that to a fault. I hope to God god that Selebus can finish that masterpiece.

OP, if you can find anything like it I would be deeply interested too.

Take a look at Waifu Academy. It has a similar art style (non-DAZ) and a healthy amount of comedy in a school setting.

if you want something relatively close to lessons in love, I recommend sensei overnight. the vn is very similar to lessons in love.
