Generating AI image set

Hi, I'm totally clueless about most of these things, but I'm interested in learning how to generate an AI story-like image set, I'm not sure what to install and what to get but it will be good if I could do it using offline tools or something.
also what to expect from this? can generating too much images ruin my PC? and will it be like generating a single image one at a time or bulk?
any guidance and help will be appreciated
