First of, hi!
I've been a long time user here and thoroughly enjoyed countless of brilliant games, but recently created a new account for Patreon reasons.

A question to all devs out there. How do you get exposure for your game?
Patreon has removed the visibility of us adult creators making it very difficult to start from scratch without an audience.

Get a Dev tag and be available in the thread for your game on F95. Don't miss deadlines you set, keep putting out content. Updated games are shown in the recently updated list. Most of the people on F95 are interested in adult games, only some just want to look at the pictures. Instant audience, up to you to get some to contribute to your tip jar.

TCMS told me to promote or tell people about my game in General Forum Topic.. Put your patreon page link on there even if you far off from releasing the game.

I am now following you on Patreon... you images look really good. Love the camera angles and lighting... You seems to be in the same boat as me, doing this as a hobby and passion and also starting out.

I got contact with user N7 who told me to open a support ticket here:

I got a response very quickly and am currently waiting for verification on the dev tag. :)
Thank you for the follow!

Alright. First of all, the game of yours (some version of it, a demo perhaps) has to be posted on this site. You can't get it otherwise.

To get the game dev badge, you must show proof (screenshots of you working on the game, and a screenshot of you (logged in) on the patreon page to show that you are making the game). Send it on in a support ticket.

Regards,
Eoin

I asked on Discord and when you develop a game and release it here you should get a TAG, but in saying so is it really that big a deal to get one?

As @Eoin said, you can look for it the rules in General Forum topic

F95Zone Survival Guide - A guide to making staff happy

I've never gotten a Dev tag either. even though I contribute work to Ptolemy's games and Life with Mary

May be an Idea to open a thread, Explain what your game is about, your planned released dates, etc.

also, Perhaps before releasing the game whether it's the Demo Version or full version. See if a few members are willing to test it for you. Give you feedback that you can fix before your planned release.

Once released, and your game has it's own forum (If you plan uploading to here, I dont know) - Keep active with your audience. Reply to them, Answer their questions, etc. Try and not get aggressive with Criticism and/or hate for the game. As, you'll never make 100% of your audience happy. As everyone likes different things in a game.

Great suggestions. I like the beta tester idea.
I'm fully aware that there will be mixed feelings and reactions to my game. I don't mind. I'm not looking to appeal to everyone and am open for criticism and inspirational ideas. I'm really making a game that I would enjoy playing, telling a story that I'd love to share.
About uploading it here my stance is that I don't mind the game being here, hell I've been pirating for almost 20 years now, but I wouldn't want to actively upload it here myself (it would be hypocritical to have a patreon site with rewards if I actively gave everything away here). I'd probably reach out to an uploader for the first episode or two and once the game gains followers, Patreons will leak it. Spending time on anti-piracy is a lost cause, especially when the reason for creating an adult game is to share it with the adult gaming community.

Done advertisement for a number of devs. Easiest and fastest way is to saturate the net with the game or teaser. Post teasers and game info on small porn forums. Teasers , game info and link to free version on the larger forums and create 5 minute gameplay videos containing 1 or 2 lewd scenes and post them to porn sites. Include the patreon link where ever you post them. I spend alot of my free time alpha testing/bug fixing, moderating discord and advertising for a number of devs. Including a few of the newer developers

This is a very good question and good replies, this thread turning out to be a great resource for new game developers I think.

I presume to get the developer tag, you need to have made an "adult game"?

so basically a web game that is half social media and half non adult game doesn't count?

When you upload a game you made then you get a tag, i doubt it has to be a adult game though...

There are you can download here, so I don't know what you mean when you say that they can't be uploaded.

Patreon has removed the visibility of us adult creators making it very difficult to start from scratch without an audience.
Well that's a question that has several answers, there is a lot of things to consider. You have the product which in this case is a game, in that you have concept, story, gameplay, visuals and engine optimization for different computers. Inside those there is other things at play as well.
You have also presentation and advertisement. For instance knowing where to advertise, keeping a clear set of goals and patreon overview. Oh and don't forget the market, "Why would someone want to support your game when they can support somebody else with a similar premise that they know is going to deliver?" is something that you want answered with a convincing and/or simple reason.
Most likely than not your game will only start getting recognition here and other forums after the 3rd or 4th version. Anyway, I'm not going to post something gigantic explaining all of that here.
I think that the people who get most traction and exposure here are the ones with a clear direction, because we're tired of seeing games being abandoned.
Being active on the daz3d show us your skills thread, if you are going for daz3d and creating a thread on general discussions is certainly a good idea.
If you want to you can PM me for a more bulky and less cryptic explanation. I will answer when I have some free time.
